Absolutely! The sorrel is our favorite for fresh snacking. Closely followed by Roselle. I love that we can eat the leaves and we get the calyxes for “fruit tea.” It’s delicious and doesn’t even need sugar. It’s a yummy treat we enjoy in the summers. The bush grows all year, but the calyxes are day length sensitive. They start forming when the days get shorter and produce until frost. We dehydrate as much as we can and try to stretch it until the next harvest.

I just planted Giant Orange Amaranth seeds today. Going for the grain harvest.
Also, didn't know the sorrel leaves were edible.

Awesome! I haven’t ever grown that variety. I tried cooking amaranth once from a store bought package and I just couldn’t figure out the consistency. I should definitely try it again. Sorrel is delicious! My kiddos favorite garden snacks. Even over cherry tomatoes.

I have sorrel growing right now and I love Swiss chard! I have wild purslane in my yard but I never really ate it .

As long as you don’t spray round up or other things of that nature in your yard, you can totally eat it! My sorrel is massive right now. You started any of your spring planting?

@@denisemouledous7352 Same! I have a handful of things in the ground, but I need to get on it. Hoping to do so tomorrow 😊 I’m gonna do half transplants and half seeds to build in succession planting without having to come back and do it later.
