I freakin' love this album. Sleater-Kinney forever.
This video made me smile instantaneously. This is my favorite album of all time.
Thank you for this! Dig Me Out was my first S-K album. I remember seeing it in Tower Records Hollywood (RIP) of all places and the album cover grabbed me. I didn't know anything about them, never heard of them before but it was one of those times where you just see an album cover and know you have to get it. I'm so glad I did, it was just amazing and I immediately had to buy the other two albums. I really love all of their releases, but I have a special sentimental connection with this one and I always will. I mean "Jenny" - how can your heart not just shutter into a thousand pieces? "Didn't we almost have it all? Didn't you want it?" So crushing.

sleater kinney's dig me out always weirded me out.. how they started as a riot-grrrl feminist style band, and music was raw and seemingly from the heart (raw and emotional), but then began making purposeful mainstream-style music with Dig Me Out that lost that rawness and music sounded like rather than being written from the heart, was written to appease the record producers or an attempt to chase after money and more lucrative record contracts. As a teen, I liked their first album and second, but Dig Me Out and after, their style changed so much into a more mainstream "radio-friendly" that it stopped appealing to me.
