I have been looking for the name of the Vtech Smart Start Elite for literally years. I can still hear it start up and say "Hello, choose an activity". Thank you so much for this video as it filled in a blank that the internet has not been able to fill in for over three years.
Babylonius Monk same with me I will never forget it starting up and that voice asking you to choose an activity... good memories I couldn't remember the name but the start up is unforgettable too me. Glad I found this video.
Oh god! My childhood right there. I remember my dad had his Magnavox 386. running Windows 3.1 and I had this. I think I also still have it, but I never had a power adapter. . . Many hours were spent on mine, and that target game was fun! That brought back some memories, thanks for sharing.
I too had a V-Tech as my first computer. I'm not sure what it was, but it was yellow, had shape keys, a half-cylinder clear plastic slider on the left side, a mouse which did god knows what, and it had a bunch of ports that I have no clue what did. It also had a handle, and lots of cartoony animals on the inside when you opened it.
I love your reviews, and I love watching the multi-part reviews, the only thing I don't like, are the wait times, since it takes so long for multiple parts to be posted. D: oh well~ it's still quality =D
The first Vtech laptop I had was this one where the buttons were different shapes like spade, triangle, circle, you get the idea. It had some letter games and number and shape games and game games. It did Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush and when it powered up did part of Polly Wolly Duddle All the day. It was smaller and had the same logo design as the Preecomputer accept with a round part to it and it was in the middle of the top part of the door instead of on the edge and with a handle on the back.
I remember haveing A vtech laptop where it still had the LCD screen a mouse that you had to push buttons to controll the cursor and the only thing i played on it out of everything else was 3D Maze
I never had one of these. But I had a Speak & Spell and Talking Teacher. They were pretty fun.

Actually whenever I watch this now, when TweeterMan says "everything would be like gargled and, the voice would just.. mwyfngjafgnawfigmjck" that makes me laugh because of funny noises.
I remember when I was a kid and Hills Department Store had the Vtech laptops on display in the toy department. Walmart does not even put these on display.
My first laptop was similar to a vtech laptop but it was a huge blue, yellow and red laptop

my first computer owned by me (not my family), was a Dell Latitude E6500, I got it in December 2012 and it ran Windows 7, though almost 3 years later it got upgraded to Windows 10.
I have a barby B book from Origan Scientiffic that does something similar to my broken precomputer I had gotten a couple months ago. I am still looking for a precomputer though at thrift stores and garage sails. I am not able to pay on line independently so I cannot use Ebay or Amazon. I am trying different laptops to see which one would work as a replacement and the origan Scientiffic one seems to be the best one. The most recent laptop I am trying is the Nitro Notebook with web connect. So far it is an awesome laptop and the game games are easier for me to play as a blind and autistic person than the B book because the B book has games that you can not play and succead at very well without vision. The math games on the precomputer I am not able to play because they do not talk to you, but the word games do.
my first 'computer' was that light brown computer and it had a red LED display and you could do math on it. I cant remember the name of it but it was big in the 80s.
It sounds to me as if this has the same voice as the Alphabet Picutre Desk, I never had one, but I've seen a video of one that had been Circuit Bent. I'd like to see someone upload a video of the Vtech Talking Lesson One, I had one as a child, and I understand my brother still has my old Pre Computer 1000 Junior, I should see if I can get it off him and perhaps make a review of it.
my first thing like this was a sega pico then i got a vtech and finally an hp pavilion ze2000 with windows xp and finally a toshiba qosimio with vista that i upgraded to 7 ultimate and am using right now for this video
I remember my childhood. I used to have a VTech laptop. I'm actually trying to find the a specific brand so I can buy it, but I do not remember what it was called, I only remember what it looks like and it used to had a game called chocolate crave or something with chocolate. If any one could help me, I would REALLY appreciate it.
i can just see you.. tweeterman: ima play my game on my laptop!! computer; fafjfjkajfhajkefhuaffjkvnajk4udsafaefadfbsjva tweeterman: O NOOOOOSS!!! MY COMPUTER!!

These sounds just unearthed a flood of memories that were buried 100 yds underground. Thank you!
Omg I just thought of this tonight and I loved my Vtech computer.

ahh, sweet childhood memories.
i remember having one of those from '99 which had slightly better graphics and a slightly bigger screen.

I like the higher levels of the spelling games on the precomputer because they are timed. My favorite thing about that is the challenge.
Yeah, since they're like, 400 MB a piece, it takes a while...at least it's not like Happy Tree Friends, where they wait 1 week to post Part 2's...
@silvRboLt95 Good point, also if you haven't seen his never videos, his voice has deepened.
I always wanted to have one of those back in the day. I then got over it and decided to go for the real thing.
I never had one of these. But I had a Speak & Spell and Talking Teacher. They were pretty fun.

I used to have one of these as well. Mine had some sort of alien Goomba as a host for the different activities. Memories indeed. :)
I remember when I was a kid and Hills Department Store had the Vtech laptops on display in the toy department. Walmart does not even put these on display.

Ahh...I remember having an old V-Tech computer. Glad I have Windows 7 now though.
his videos are the best ever
I have a vtech from when i was little but it was red nd blu nd had a flip top that covered the keypad, man that ish was fun
My first computer was also a Vtech, but it was made in 2003 and looked more like a slimmed down iMac G4 in kids clothes.
also the keyboard on that thing looks like an atari 400 odyssey 2 pcjr or zxspectrum keyboard
I had the original Smart Start from about 1989 & Super Smart Start from around 1991 or so.
I had something similar with a detective solving crime theme. Not sure if it was a vtec.
My first laptop was similar to a vtech laptop but it was a huge blue, yellow and red laptop

4:52 Lmao... If I was hearing that if I was a kid... I would laugh how funny it sounds... but I'm sorry that it scared you... lol
I love the voice. I forgot about that voice. Vetech should go back to that voice.

You would actually be surprised at how often people comment about his age.
I had one of those when I was a kid. I don't know where it is now, but I know I got rid of it. That target game was crap it seems.
I had a vTech laptop with a monkey as the mascot. I used to call it the "Monkey Computer". It broke about 3 years ago :(
