    I've always struggled to wrap my head around the size of handles when there's no hand to show relative to the tool. This is really helpful in figuring out the practical size of all of the parts of this set. Great stuff!

    I've had the Tool-Check Plus set (metric) for about a year now and while I don't use it all that often it has worked well those times I have used it. While the rachet almost looks like a toy, it's very well made. Wera actually has a online video of them tightening a lug nut to 100 N-m (about 74 ft-lbs) and then using the Zyklop mini (with a breaker bar) to loosen the nut. I also very much like the "organization" nature of the set, it's very easy to tell at a glance if anything is missing. My only quibble is that the ratchet and especially the driver handle are just a little too small. The set comes with #2 and #3 Phillips (or Pozidriv) bits and I have found it difficult to loosen (or tighten) a larger screw with the driver handle. Basically one has to break the screw loose with the ratchet and then use the driver to finish removing it.
    As I said, I don't use it all that often and it sits in one of my tool bags most of the time. I just noticed that one of the two plastic pins that attaches the drive handle holder to the body of the case as failed. Haven't contacted Wera about it yet. On the bright side, none of the sockets have ever fallen off their holders.

      Thanks for your input. Maybe they should include a small pipe to use as a cheater bar on the ratchet.

    I have the older version of that set with non color coded sockets. It's an extremely handy and compact set even if the kraftform handle is a little on the small side. I'm not a fan of the color coded sockets and would like to see the addition of stamped size markings instead of just the laser etching.

    Great and informative, really enjoy your videos. That new style of bit-adaptor is called a "Rapidaptor". It automatically locks the bit in when you push it in and then you just pull the collar to release it. A shame you didn't show this since Weras own video is a bit lacking. Just ordered this set to have something small to grab when I'm not sure what I'll need. This and my Leatherman should cover most things.

    Great review. I got this set with the intention of using it to work on my Suzuki motorcycle. I find the components to be very well made; the only downside for working on a Japanese motorcycle is that Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) bits are not included (though I hardly expected them to be).

    If Lufthansa First Class handed out in-flight toolboxes, that is what Wera would be.
    These little kits are very neat, but feel more like something you'd bring with you in a backpack on a very long bicycle or trail-bike ride as an emergency toolset rather than as a primary one for servicing.

    • @istvanmolnar7637
      @istvanmolnar7637 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flathead should have already died long time ago, it is the most impractical, damage sensitive solution in screwdriving. If you need a set for what you said, in my opinion you already need more tools for that so this little set wouldn't be enough, hence you probably get a bigger selection when you get a bigger tool set. Fortunately I mostly meet slotted only in electronic terminals, for that I have a separate vde set.

  • @chaddles623
    @chaddles623 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice set, I picked up the SAE version since all my other Were sets are Metric, but have ya noticed that deep well Sockets don't really exist from German tool companies except Gedore makes some impact rated ones but not many, I like the color coded sockets but I could care less for the Lazer etching and would prefer them stamped, but I've noticed not all the color codes match up across different products, like L-Keys to Sockets don't all match up, some do but not all, and several other things

  • @BassMaster.454
    @BassMaster.454 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like it, but it's missing a few important sockets for me; 5 and 9. I do body work, so a lot of torx and different size sockets. I might up size one and see it they have 14-20mm and deep well would be nice.

      Its like that all over the world. Here in Norway, almost everything is metric, but like 1 out of 10 powertools or vehicles will be in imperial (tools/vehicles meant for the american market or tools/vehicles made i USA somehow end up here). So you you stil need some damn imperial sets. I really wonder how much money is wasted all over the world for this need for doubling up on tool, just because some Americans insist on being backwards.

    Say you wanted to buy this system but have the option of being able to use both Imperial and Metric system bits and sockets. Do you think you could get this kit as the metric being a little cheaper and then simply only buying imperial sockets to combine with it and save money so you don’t have to buy both styles of the kit?

Pretty much only the high torque fasteners for axles etc can’t take Zyklops, but everything else (torx, hex and sockets to 14mm) are fine. 3 years of maintenance and the Zyklops is like new.

    I have had the normal tool check for a few years now, had minimal use around the house, kept it in it's original box packaging till this very day.
    In that time, the driver handle holder has come apart from the main plastic body case, and one of those socket holders came loose by itself and eventually snapped, the wera latch is still good though,
    Although the actual bits, rapidator and rachet are still functioning and useful, the plastic housing or organiser is really cheaply made and not hard wearing, like I said, mine fell apart from minimal use being stored in a cupboard.
    If you were going to use this set every day, the plastic housing is going to fail on you really quickly and if you drop it or it roles around in your tool bag, it's not going to last.
    Wera make some quality tools and bits, but they shouldn't be using cheap plastic in thier products and then charging a premium, and yes I do think that quite abit of thier product line is over priced.

    The current corvette interior is undergoing a review. The overall opinion is it's too fussy like this set. Buttons, bobs and bits you need to push pull slide before you get what you want. Take everything out put it on the bench then review it. If the content can stand on its own without the wrapping then it's worth a look. But basing a purchase on the wrapping is ridiculous. Who does not have every single one of the hex bits right now or the sockets or a 1/4 drive ratchet? Find a box and buy the custom foam inserts. You can get a snap-on ratchet at a fraction of the cost of this set.
