    Im always really surprised to hear you using peat mix. You have such a big following, it would be great to use it to spread the word about peat usage.

    I'm currently not growing any anthuriums. One of my 2023 plant resolutions is to try one! I love Etsy for handmade pottery. A couple of my favorites are DMSPottery and CastorCeramics.

    Hi Summer, I've been following you for years, and just started watching Gilmore Girls. There is a scene where the daughter is looking at an old photograph of her mom when she was in her teens. The photo of young Lorelai looks just like you! I am thinking it is you because of your modeling history. It was fun to notice!

    The decorative pots do lend an element of class! I can see the first pot you used with a cacti or succulent. Love the gold cache pot! Very elegant planting. I use mostly terra cotta; I especially like the pots made in Germany that come in darker shades and muted white.
    Proven Winners is now selling houseplants in the big box stores. Saw a gorgeous Anthurium (forgot the name but I do believe the label mentioned it) but the plants come with a a pricey and not welcome cache pot. Plant people like to choose their own pots. I prefer buying a plant in a nursery pot.
    Seems like plants are being sold mostly as decor, not for their botanical interest. Might as well sell them in furniture departments or with vases and lamps!!.

      You’re right I’d rather buy my plants in a nursery pot and repot them into a pot of my choosing I always end of repotting my plants anyway.

    Hi Summer, i really like to lightly pre-wet the medium while I'm mixing it before I pot a plant, to me it gets a nice even distribution of moisture, I actually repotted a shibori anthurium today, used big coconut pieces, like halves and thirds, together with charcoal and immortelle chunks ( the partially decomposed parts of this tree ) and placed it under a mango tree after, it works in my weather in Trinidad and Tobago, wonderful video, make more, I absolutely love them, happy planting Summer. !! 😊😊

    Thanks for this video. How do you know when it's time to repot? I bought an anthurium about 5 years ago-my only one. I don't know its latin name, but it is less than a foot tall with 2-inch green leaves (reddish tinged new ones) and slightly smaller reddish pink blooms. It currently is a nice clump with eight flowers with no yellowing of leaves except one or two at the base every few months. It has been in bloom the entire time I've had it. It loves the full southern exposure of my sunroom. In summer when the sun is higher it lives in front of a mirror in the same room. I feed it twice a year with a half strength dose of Miracle Grow. I follow your advice on watering. When would you consider repotting?

    I love anthurium but I’m very new to them. I’ve always loved aroids but anthurium are my new obsession this year. I had none before the new year and now I have 6 of them (crystal noid, villenaorum, pallidoflorum, draconopterum, veitchii, and polyschistum) plus 2 nodes that are rooted but leafless (rubrinervium and truncicola). I’ve heard people say they think all anthurium look the same (in their defense, many of the popular ones are similar in shape and veining) but I think all of the ones I’ve acquired are drastically unique from one another. Hopefully they do well in my care!
    I wish I could share in your love for peperomia but in all honestly I think it’s my least favorite genus. The only ones I’ve really enjoyed in my collection are prostrata and hope. I’m definitely more of the aroid, Hoya, and caudiciform type.

    Thanks so much for the "refresher." I am looking into getting a couple more anthurium plants soon. I have an ensuite that gets plenty of natural light throughout the day. Which may be the perfect area to grow my anthurium.
    On a personal note, from the perspective of a single male that wanted to be single in his 30's. Well, I hate to break it to you, we end up being single in our 50's which is not pleasing at all. I hope you have found someone to "pair up" with.

      I tend to fertilize plants that are still growing in the Winter but I use half strength liquid fertilizer vs the amount I use during the Spring and Summer months!! I haven't had a problem with it!! I also leach my plants at least once a month so that no salts build up in the soil!!

      I def can see some clarinervium or magnificum traits but that huge wide sinus is really giving me regale vibes. What is really throwing me off is the insignificant veinage and the bullate texture of the leaf similar to luxurians

    • @you_gullible_fucc
      @you_gullible_fucc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spikedout2323 the sinus is also giving me regale, but the veinage to me feels like papillilaminum parentage, and I've also seen papillilaminum x luxurians have that semi-bullate leaf texture. So.... Clarinervium x (papi x lux)? Sounds like a hybrid that's hard to come by though

    • @spikedout2323
      @spikedout2323 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@you_gullible_fucc Totally agree I'm sure its like a cross of a cross of a cross lol. I was also thinking the same about it possibly having some pap but its really difficult to tell for sure. Absolutely stunning though regardless
