What wasn't mentioned that Penny Marshall played Myrna Oscar Madison's secretary on the "ODD COUPLE" a few years earlier.
What also wasn't mentioned was that Penny Marshall was married to Rob Reiner (the son of comic Carl Reiner), the actor who played Mike Stivic, the liberal son-in-law of bigoted Archie Bunker on "All In The Family." He was the one whom Archie was always calling a "Meathead" and a "dumb polack."

Laverne, and Shirley was one of my favorite comedies. I loved Happy Days, and I remember when Laverne, and Shirley first came on the show. Both where very funny, and I always look forward to Tuesday nights.

This episode was super well done. Great insight! This had the best explanation of the Shlemeil/Schlamazel origins. Thank you! Although saying Hey Landlord had a killer theme? bleh. L&S, The Jeffersons & One Day At a Time were killer. I had no idea McKean and Lander were a comedy troop together in college. Pretty cool

I have Laverne And Shirley on dvd, I raised my children ever since they were all babies on the shows. They LITERALLY laugh at the stars, and they would create their own shows acting like them. Even when Penny Marshall passed away my daughter came running up to crying and blubbering, we both did, since she was part of my generation. But in her honor my family and I all had Milk and Pepsi -- (Which BTW, is DELICIOUS!! together they taste like a warm melted Pepsi ice cream floats) I think as a dad I did a good thing upgrading my Generation X

I love Laverne and Shirley! I got to stay up til 9pm, on the nights it was on, as a kid. (Yes, i'm that old) Lol I'm glad they made them alittle softer from the happy days episode. Shirley shouldnt be easy 🙂 I have the boxed set of all the seasons and I've seen every episode a gazillion times. Watching it through the lens of 2022 tho, some parts make me uncomfortable. They feel alittle rapey. Things were accepted then. Thanks for the video.

All very interesting. I noticed that in the Happy Days episode where they're introduced, Laverne & Shirley are 'loose' women as this video 📹 says. But when they have their own show, they are quite the opposite.

On their show, Laverne still acted a little "loose," while Shirley was the show's resident "good girl," although she could be somewhat flirtatious sometimes, especially when she was with her boyfriend, Carmine (Eddie Mekka).
I've often wondered why Shirley eventually married a different man, and then disappeared from the show when she found out that she was pregnant.

When "Laverne And Shirley" first went on the air, my parents didn't like the show either. They said that the girls had no talent, that they couldn't sing, dance, act, etc. My sister used to call the program "Laverne And STUPID"!
Yet, years later, when we watched reruns of "L & S," my mom started saying she liked it, that it was funny. I don't remember if dad ever changed his mind about it.
