There is one female vocal that is better. Laura Martin's on Jean Michel Jarre's live version of September (Live in London). To be honest, Im a huge Floyd fan but Martin's singing on Jarre's song blows Torry's out of the water. And if you watch the video version - not recommended because it has fireworks noise in the background that is distracting (edited out of the audio version) - Martin doesnt even break a sweat, even though shes bringing something primal out, making your hair stand on end, and disembowelling you with her voice all at the same time. Best to listen to the audio version of this loud and in the dark. ps September is a tribute to Dulcie September, killed by the apartheid regime in south africa in 1988 and a tribute to all victims of terrorism around the world. pps it takes a long time in the song before Martin starts her solo vocal. This brings me to tears every time i hear it. Even after 40 years. Claire Torry did this on the first take. She takes us through all the stages of dying from denial to anger to grief and finally acceptance. My mother passed away a few months ago. I cant express with words what this masterpiece does without words.
I was on a beach in San Diego when I heard this for the first time. My friends and I were getting ready to go to a midnight movie at a nearby theater. The car was pulled up on the beach and we listened to its stereo with our backs pressed up against the car while we watch the waves come in. We were smoking and enjoying the music. With the tide came millions of small silver fish. The grunion were running. It was as close as I have ever come to a mystical experience.
This song is very powerful. It transitions from the lie we all tell ourselves about death, that is no big deal that we all have to go sometime, and then the song is taken over by the reality of death, the actual fight and terror of dying. Clare Torry just puts that lie at the beginning to rest with her reality and it's powerful.
Don't be frightened, because you are greater than the some of your "physical" parts. A conscious soul cannot die in the traditional sense. Your essence will carry on in other lifetimes, if that is what you seek. What I find interesting is that I'm frightened of the complete opposite, living forever in this physical realm is not something I would want. This physical universe is very harsh, it can extract a heavy toll on our lives, and that toll extends into future lifetimes, which can keep us here reincarnating for a very long time. Perhaps the universe is so old because it takes so long for our conscious souls to make that long journey all the way through.
Death is something so many people are scared of. We don't know anything about what happens when you die or after, so it is very scary. It's permanent and you think "How can the world go on without me in it?" It's human nature to think that way. You just have to remember that the world existed before you were in it as well. Death happens to every single one of us. Enjoy the time you have here and now. This is the message from the song "Time". You have to be sure not to waste a moment. Leave your mark in the world so that when you do finally pass on, you will always be alive in memories.

When I first heard this song it induced panic in me, my life will end and there's nothing I can do. I think it's the unknown that I'm frightened of however, I sleep and at that time I don't realise I exist. That's what comforts me. I Wan on this beautiful hill the first thing I noticed was the colors was so vivid and why more colors than on earth. Each blade of grass was a different colors and glittered like diamonds. Such a great reaction. It's other level music. I still have recollection of hearing this for the first time when I was like 8-9 years old and knowing this was something very damn intense and very special. For me, 'Dark Side of the Moon' is one of the single most phenomenal, mind-blowing albums I have ever heard or really imagine I'll ever hear. It's four exceptional musical artists at their creative peak, with ideas for days, a state-of-the-art studio, and brilliant people involved in mixing, engineering, arrangements, backing instruments/vocals all combining to create something exceedingly close to whatever perfection is supposed to sound like, which is arbitrary anyway. It's a groove from first notes to the final ones.

I died in 1977 at 12 years old I drown. It was a unbelievable experience no need to fear sweetheart. If your a believer in Christ. When i went it so peaceful. I Wan on this beautiful hill the first thing I noticed was the colors was so vivid and why more colors than on earth. Each blade of grass was a different colors and glittered like diamonds. I looked up there was Jesus in his white robe and he was the only way could describe it. he was shooting love at me and it was again incredible. No word to becsribe it. But humble your self. When get to his kingdom you realize what safety is 😇❤❤

Processing the song is the exact same process we all go through listening to this genius work, the same reason they made it, processing life, not to scare you, but like thinking about the universe; Pink Floyd make you realise how small we are in it and how when we take time to listen and think about life that we all face the same emotional awareness about our lives as we get close to the end of it. it takes a special group of people who are passionate about life and music to come up with this song, they have always been humble for the most part and aware of life's fragility and just gave us the music to it.

This song was the final song on side one of the album, and was really like the second half of the previous song, Breathe, IMO.
Such a great reaction. It's other level music. I still have recollection of hearing this for the first time when I was like 8-9 years old and knowing this was something very damn intense and very special. For me, 'Dark Side of the Moon' is one of the single most phenomenal, mind-blowing albums I have ever heard or really imagine I'll ever hear. It's four exceptional musical artists at their creative peak, with ideas for days, a state-of-the-art studio, and brilliant people involved in mixing, engineering, arrangements, backing instruments/vocals all combining to create something exceedingly close to whatever perfection is supposed to sound like, which is arbitrary anyway. It's a groove from first notes to the final ones.

I was angry when my beautiful wife of 25 yrs died. When,after a couple of weeks went by, Finally I saw it for what it really was,it was a Spiritual Step to our Heavenly Father's realm.It is a Glorious thing .Her kids came 2 states away said their Neverending love for her ,I as well ,finally, I said to her Sweet heart ,it's okay now, your tired you don't have to wait it's ok to let go,you can go,we will see you again my darling ,it's ok to go baby,and let's say 30 or 45 seconds later in God's loving arms.
