    Underscoring the principle that just because something is old doesn’t mean you throw it away. Bravo.

    How fun that I just stumbled across this video from my fellow Utahans and church members, hehe! My uncle and aunt, Merrill and Jo Oaks (Pres. Dallin's brother, and sister of my dad, Anthony/Tony/AJ) used to own a cabin up in Provo Canyon, somewhere along the way to President Monson's old cabin, and they had a pedal-only-pump player piano, and we loved playing it a lot during our visits once or twice a year! -- Mike A. Christensen

    OK, so... old body, new guts, right? All or most of the... the... "KEY" functioning parts (ha!)... were replaced, so this is a hybrid of many-decades-old with brand- or almost-brand-new (but kept the good old quiet pump instead of replacing it with a shop vacuum, LOL)?

    UTAH! Ahahahh, I think I see some telltale signs of people from my favorite church! "But what are you going to do about the light that is in their eyes?" Hey, you didn't know that can radiate through video, did ya?☺ Your piano man there has the same first name as that channel on your TV, nice! 😉

    Well, you wouldn't be able to fit a MIDI system in there too, not so much because the cabinet doesn't have room for the little computer, but because the keys don't have room for both bellow and solenoids, right?

    I'm so glad this has that big, quiet pump instead of one of those terrible-sounding damn VACUUM CLEANER fans, ughh! But too bad it's not also fitted with manual pump pedals.

    My Grandma's player piano was party central a long time ago. Grandpa bought it instead of a quarter section of land. It was damaged in a fire and someone told my uncle it could never be restored because of water or chemical damage on the inside. Do you believe in never say never?

  • @HelloKittyFanMan.
    @HelloKittyFanMan. ปีที่แล้ว

    Haha, of _course_ you can play it like a regular piano! Why wouldn't ya be able to? 😛 Brigham's a great player as well as restorer!

    Jeez get a shoulder strap solution. I’ve got ShoulderDolly. Great product. I’d use it even for the short lifts to move it against the wall. I never strain. So much easier and enjoyable. Also a flatter and smaller dolly would reduce the height you gotta angle that thing up. I just moved a 50” Weber into my parents place alone basically, including a step and over a driveway (using an aluminum ramp from Harbor Freight) with my very old parents just spotting. The other trick I used was tie-downs (standard clickety-clacks) to hold the cover on tightly by using two or more of the tie-downs all the way over and under the piano, which function then as extremely helpful hand hold spots while moving.

      Its so beautiful. I have one that id love to redo too. Hate to ask but was it very expensive?

      @@cardfan9652 I’m glad to share; it was free. But I’ve had to put a lot of work into it and it needs more yet. But I’ve been truly stunned at the tone; the true concert tone comes through already. I have ‘shorts’ videos on my yt of some repair procedures being demonstrated on that Weber.

    I'm surprised that it has no foot pedals but I guess the late ones didn't. The sound is good. Like so many said it would have been nice to hear the correct Duo Art rolls on it. Surprising the two fo them could move it like they did.

    • @HelloKittyFanMan.
      @HelloKittyFanMan. ปีที่แล้ว

      "Foot pedals..." as opposed to... "hand pedals"? It does have... _pedals_ (which already means "of the foot"). See those two down there?

    • @jklingeroo77
      @jklingeroo77 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Since this is a Duo-Art reproducing piano (re-enacts the playing of the roll artist), they were meant to perform for the listeners, and require them to necessarily partake 'IN' the performance (by pedaling). Also, since the mechanism demands a consistent, and high level of vacuum - the motorized pump would guarantee that. Reproducing pianos were much more expensive, so having deluxe features like this were the norm. The foot-pedaled 'HOME PLAYER' that were most commonly found, like you mentioned, were also able to be marketed to areas that, at the time, still did not have electricity.

    Delivers a Duo-Art reproducing piano and plays a crappy J. Lawrence Cook 88 note roll on it.
