I chose Buckethead because the guitar playing is smooth and there are so many variations on each different album.. the strange thing is that every time I listen to Buckethead I always fall asleep.. like sleep therapy for me.. that's a sign that the music I listen to is very good.

So as an independent musician Slash is more successful (which is the aim of most musicians/guitarists/art persons). As a hired guitarist Buckethead has more chances (play someone's music and get money for life)

Slash, hands down. Buckethead is ofc more technically advanced. But imo technique has absolutely no value in itself. It is only a tool. The purpose of music just like any other art form is to express something. This type of shredding means absolutely nothing to me, and I honestly don't think it does to Buckethead either. I've heard him play beautiful and expressive stuff too, but this isn't that. Slash is old school, and like classic blues guitarists, or like George Harrison or Jimi Hendrix. The notes don't have to be that many. It's better to play one note that actually serves a purpose than to play a thousand just because you can. This why guitarists like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour or Gary Moore will always be a million times better than say Yngwie Malmsteen imo.

@@634983 Oh I agree 💯% Bucket is hugely talented imo but he doesn’t have the musicality that I look for in a player. Joe Satriani is amazing but doesn’t appeal to me either. Slash has great phrasing, and there are so many great players out there in all genres.
