Nice one again Matt. I like to prepare my hook baits in the comfort of my kitchen and keep them in my cool box when fishing, already on the hook snoods and ready to go. This gives excellent presentation and saves so much time time when actually fishing, as you only need to switch snoods (double-pat), so maximising the time in the water. Obviously for fresh and frozen baits only. You can actually freeze them down to use when ready to go fishing! Paul Kerry gave me the idea in the early 90's.
Nice target fish, Matt i was watching Slippy the other night doing his draw, he mentioned that you might be interested in going in his boat for a session said i would mention it to you on yor next vidio LOL. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Nice one Matt - some great drone footage too. Well done on the Spikey ones! Sounded like it got a little rough towards the end. Best regards - stay safe & well, Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
Watcha Dave, I was hoping you’d catch this video 👍 yes drone is fun think it can give a good perspective of these marks - indeed almost got washed away In The end
Nice one Matt, I've never tried for a ray here, might have to give it a try. Although I don't like wading in the dark, too many kiddies digging holes in the daytime! Stay safe
Looking forward to your next video. I've watched your video twice and it's great. Thank you for sharing the video. I wish you good health and make more good videos 🤩
Another great video Matt, they always remind me of "home" and how I've missed the sea fishing. Return flights from Canada have been booked and I can't wait to get back on the UK beaches in April. Cheers and tight lines!
The first ray I ever caught (and many years later still the biggest) was a 14 lb Undulate. I'd been plagued by pout all night and the slow tap tap on the road tip was more of the same, I thought. It didn't put up a fight either. Just came in like a lump of weed. Beautiful creature though. I literally punched the air when it was unhooked and flapped away back to the deep.
Lovely fish thornbacks! I wouldn't want to catch the massive rays that Jeremy Wade catches. Too much like hard work for my liking. 😝😝😝. Up to 10lbs is fine! 😄
Yea sure there’s a few risks that are negated by using straight through braid weed gets stuck on prefer knot. Sometimes the leader knot (even tapered ) tangles a bit on the spool
Super video Matt, currently enjoying ray fishing up here in Suffolk. Nothing big but a rewarding fish to catch. One quick question what length of hook length are you using? I’ve been told to use as long as possible?

Great video bud!
Has inspired me.
Nice ! They are a remarkable species, on occasion can really thump the rod and I’ve no doubt there’s some bigger ones about too.
Nice one mate

Great memories 😀

Sounds like a plan ! A double is a possibility
hi mat, why the leaders are problematic in the night can you please explain? thanks

Will edit comments after finishing video

Thanks Bill , those hook lengths are just under a meter - good tip is to drag a little after the lead hits the bottom
Ps good video what beach is this please
This is a huge stretch with footage from Dungeness to Hythe
I got to say it's funny Ray's sand sharks here in New York City you'd rather catch nothing then catch those
Ha yep the more common the less desirable !
You are taking a big risk keeping your thumb close to their mouth like that
