Hi Foothills! Your video was very helpful for my Stihl 028 WB rebuild. My saw appears to be about the same vintage as yours. I had to stop some of the vide clips that were art high speed as I didn't photograph as much as I should've. The main crank seal was leaking massive amounts of oil and the re-build stopped the leak. She runs like she is brand new! THANKS!

Fantastic videos! And thank you for your trail work on the foothills, without quality people like you that trail wouldn't be hike able.

I just picked up one of those saw 1month ago at a garage sale for $100.00 came with a case , files , tools and bars oil. it was 84 or 85 year model. it was like new until I got ahold of it. it's cut close to 3 cords of wood without any issues. thanks for sharing your time. cheers

I have an 028WB myself and have it torn down and the case split and your video has been a great help. One question though, your new cylinder looks larger than the original. Are the cylinders interchangeable? I have a 42mm so would i be able to go to the 46mm?

Thanks for the video, I was looking online for the chain brake kit or even Stihl dealer, everyone said different way...now I know the chain saw did not has chain brake. Lol

Some did come with a brake. If he wanted with his he could retrofit his saw with the part # 1118 007 1002. I have the same saw and did with mine.

Just picked up my 028AV Wood Boss from Stihl shop, said piston & cylinder are done & not worth finding parts nor the labour to fix. After watching your videos, thinking maybe give it a whirl.

  • @quoctrangchuotbeo4

I have Stihl 028 WB same the one you have and it did not have chain break also, so when I start up the chain is running...so is this normal?

Awesome breakdown!! Which "new" model Stihl is equivalent to the 028WB?

  • @7duser10

This must be quite an early 028, with the cheese head machine screws and the front guard (no brake) without holes in it. I have an early 038 it has the same hand guard but with the chain brake, same discoloured side panel plastic - however it has all torx screws. Nice job. Cheers

Showing a follow up on the aftermarket parts would be a great idea.I've purchased aftermarket carbs and about three out of ten are ok the only problem is the welch plugs are not sealed properly. I used a little clear nail polish, prob!am solved.
