Awesome!!! Great singing, arrangement, percussion and organisation. We have so much to offer to the world in our Nigerian traditional music. Great work. I hope Nigeria government can promote these wonderful works for the appreciation of the world at large. I say kudos and congratulations to the choir!!!

Gorman Micheal Thanks for the beautiful comment Michael. We will surely post one of the beautiful renditions by the students of the University of Lagos here again very soon.

Gorman Micheal Ayò means ‘Joy’, while Káàbò means ‘Welcome’.
The musical piece is composed in the Yoruba dialect of Nigeria. The Yoruba tribe is one of the three major tribes of the country.
The entire song in summary, is a Christmas song that talks about the birth of baby Jesus Christ and the joy it brings to mankind.
At the beginning where the male voices sang, they represented the three wise men who saw the star (ati rí ìràwọ ògo = we have seen the star of glory) and also the shepherds that watched in the field before the angel appeared to them to inform them of the birth of the Messiah.
So the song welcomes Him (Jesus), who is the King of Kings, the saviour of the world and the light of the world.
