I'm only an amateur guitarist of 50 years who has mostly played pop / Rock, with some classical and Flamenco. I believe without question, the violin is the most difficult instrument to master and Ray Chen is an absolutely phenomenal player! On a scale of 1 to 10, he's an 11!

I think the audience did not necessarily react to the genre of music but rather the passion and musicality and skill of each performer. Ray would slay playing anything-here you see the crowd grow and be amazed. Thank you for this collaboration.

@@hexabr Nothing against Karolina, but a violinist and a professional classical violinist are not the same thing. They don't live in the same world, it's a completely different ballgame. It's like saying Lindsay Stirling is as good of a violinist as Hilary Hahn. Classical violinists, even prodigies are required and always train their arts to perfection. You cannot make even the most minute mistake when you do a classical concert. You miss a note in pop violin play, literally no one cares.
I thought the classical music won, it looked like more people stopped at classical. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED both.
I love how karolina just plays straightaway and Ray feels the need to first tell everyone what he is going to play 😂

Personally, I prefer classical, but I think out of all the violinists, Karolyn’s really delivers pop music the best

“You’re just some walk by violinist!???!”😂 When you scanned the audience his expression made me think that he knew who he was! It seemed to me that there was a larger crowd during the classical performance. Ray is just amazing. So is Karolina.
Yes, Ray immersed himself deeply in his feelings in Schindler's List. You can tell that he is used to playing such profound pieces. I came across Karolina's channel by chance and haven't been able to leave it since 🤗
The longer they were playing the more people gathered to listen to incredible music, so if he started, there would have been a bigger crowd for her too.
It’s just nice to enjoy the music and when there is more than one, people stop to see what’s going on, I am sure they enjoyed them both so much!

Yes, you are right and music is intended for everyone. Many people would not be able to pay the price for a concert ticket. Karolina and her family give it to them for free. You are truly blessed. I came across Karolina's channel by chance and haven't been able to leave it since 🤗

To see a master such as Ray Chen choose to invest time into visiting this young lady on her stage is both gracious and genius... I believe he recognizes she presents a passion for her music and performance that all maestros could learn from... Karolina, now 15 years old, isn't out there trying to compete... she welcomes Ray Chen to her world, now lets put some smiles on these faces... She recognizes he is one ot the top 1% violinist in the world... at the same time you can hear a confidence in her voice and performance very few at this age pocess... In my opinion she is one of the purest role models for young artist on TH-cam... Hard work, stands strong in her faith and the love of family...

good musicians can make you enjoy their music. Great musicians just grab you no matter what they play (even if the music genre is not your cup of tea). You have such a power.

Ray Chen isn't the greatest of our generation. Hilary Hahn is.
I mean, people are more tied to the pop music because they know the song. So I think it will draw people in. That being said, you and Karolina said it best. Your technique, her poise and command of the audience, bam!
I feel like when you listen to Ray Chen playing classical pieces, it's nothing you haven't heard before, even though it's amazing. I was, however, very impressed by his pop song playing. It was a lot more expressive than you usually hear from a busker. Man needed to remind us that he's a world-class soloist lol
I personally prefer classical, but it is undeniable that she's got TONS of charisma and it's really hard not to like her. She could play like a pre-schooler and I think I still would like her, haha! I just like her energy as a person overall.
The more of her performances you see the more impressed you will be. She is amazing
The whole concept of Classical and Pop music coming together is just delightful. Whatever the genre music, when it is respected and played well, it is such a beautiful thing - thank you to the amazing Ray Chen and the lovely Karolina for showing us true music. That was so wonderful, only wish I could have been there! That was a very special once-in-a lifetime performance - one for the memory to play over, and over again.

Yes but people have to get paid and Ray is a professional musician who worked very hard to achieve that level of skill. So it definitely does not need to be free. This was just publicity. But people should pay for art.
This was really a great opportunity to expand musically allowing the public, you and Karolina to play. I mean that everyone expands and hears classical music in an everyday venue. It was fun to watch!
I would have stood there ALL DAY for any of Ray's performance. One NEVER sees the level of his virtuosity on the streets of LA.
I love classical music and pop music. What I love about Karolina, she has a beautiful soul and when she plays her violin with so much passion it touches you. She’s an inspiration to us you can accomplish everything in life. She’s my role model and inspiration. A true musician as Karolina has a divine spiritual power that connects to our souls through her music.
I love both because you’re both genuinely enjoying what you’re playing and it shows. People pick up on the energy. Wish we could have heard/seen more of your duets! I saw them perform duets together in person. Karolina's sound cards were stolen so she can't post the duets. I am hoping Ray posts them. There were 3 or 4 duets. He had a film crew there so he has it. If he doesn't post them I think it would be nice if he gave them to Karolina. We will see

Ohh yeah that was so sad. When I saw the video karolina posted about the stolen cards I was in shock. It is so unfortunate that the time it happens is when there's real sentimental value. (Fortunately, they didn't stole her violin). I am hoping to see karolina perform whenever I go to LA (quite complicated to get there from Spain), it must be awesome to see her perform (and ray too, obviously) @AttilaLothrigel

Lots of love to a guy who can put the seriousness of the classical music hall a little bit to one side and have fun busking with his amazing talent at the Santa Monic Promenade. That takes thinking way outside the box and it takes a lot of guts. I'm just delighted that Ray and Karolina are friends and performing together. We want more. Puh-lease!??!!

There was a lot of emotion and complexity in the classical music. I could also hear all your classical training through the pop performance. You put on a good show and definitely captivated an itch that some of those bystanders didn’t know they had!

When Ray started to play, tears welled up in my eyes. The music deeply touched my heart. This is how I perceive the difference between pop and classical music. I could listen to Ray playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto all day long.

I was raised on classical and opera, played the violin for 7 years in JR HS and HS. I was terrible, but enjoyed being part of a HS symphony orchestra. I'm 76 years old & enjoy all sorts of music, but classical is the core. Karolina is absolutely amazing! as are you. I watched he Master Class with you & it was very instructive. Actually Karolina's channel is what led me to you. Thank you for the music!

We know that Karolina plays classical, and just saw Ray play pop. What I would love to see is the two of them playing a mashup of both where they switch from one to the other mid-song. Some pop songs lend themselves to a classical riff between verses and vice-versa. I'm sure an audience would love it.
