We find the ways to still stay optimistic and live the joy of Christmas in a country that doesn’t really celebrate it. I will show you in this video how I live it up!

My city is not big, it's a tier 4 or tier 5 city in china, i noticed that during Christmas all the shopping centers and big hotels have Christmas decorations.
Chinese people celebrate / recognize Christmas a lot more than the West celebrates / accept Chinese New Year . China is more open minded without a doubt.

Christmas is common among malaysian chinese and singaporean chinese and also hong kong but not that common in mainland china though...but in taiwan and macau christmas is celebrated more than china but less than singapore malaysia and indonesia...another thing is that many of the chinese in singapore malaysia and indonesia ,hong kong are christians compared to mainland china,taiwan. etc...
It's actually quite a sad story, for years Chinese people had so little confidence in themselves that they think everything from the west is good, and China should abandon its culture completely to be like the west. Glad to see them getting proud of themselves again. They celebrate Christmas but in their own way.

Thanks for posting this Christmas video. I love the decorations and the music. It really puts me in the Christmas spirit. Here in Canada we are locked down in the biggest city, Toronto. We can't even invite our parents over for a quick dinner. So sad. Our retail sales this year is suffering and many businesses are going under. Only Amazon is doing well. I wish my family and friends were in China having a good time now. I am so jealous of you. Here in the west, nobody believes that China has controlled the pandemic. If I show Canadians this video, they would think that the CCP has orchestrated this video and locked down everyone involved afterwards. LOL

This year's real merry Christmas is in China. The West?
Hong Kong was a British Crown colony for a long long time. 1843-1941; 1945-1997 (1941-1945 HK was under Japanese occupation, WW2). Until the Brits returned HK to China in 1997, HK was under the same British colonial rule, no election, no democracy, etc. Christian missionary, churches and affiliated schools enjoyed free rein, leaving a lasting Christian influence. Under One-Country, Two-system HK retained a lot of colonial era stuff. That's why Christmas is celebrated with more religious spirit there. In China's tier-1 & 2 cities with many international visitors, big hotels decorate to bring some cheers to the guests, and shopping malls make shopping more festive. While some people in US & Canada complain that Xmas is getting too commercial these days, it is exactly how it should be in China. 2020 is an unusual year for expats since they could not go home due to worldwide runaway pandemic. HK did a poor job containing covid-19 and is a no-go for mainland residents. Make the best to celebrate with family and friends safely inside China's Big Bubble. It's a blessing. Let's hope 2021 will be better. Cheers.

You must really miss your family and friends. I know it's a bit tough but thats the life of expats. You really have to go back in order to feel the vibe of cultural holidays. Christmas in Asia is celebrated differently. It's more secular and commercial. It's the way people like it in Asian countries. Luckily Shanghai has multiple Christmas markets. My city of Seattle has literally none going on right now.
