Ive been practicing that shooting technique in my backyard. I have 7ft Lews wally marshall signature series Cant remember the reel off the top of my head. But im able to hit a 5 gallon bucket from about 10 - 15 yards. Im tryin to keep it less than 3 or 4 feet off the ground simulating going up under a dock. Seems to work pretty well. I wanna get out and give it a shot.
That is great way to dial in this technique. Water level is really low in all our local lakes. So, it makes dock shooting way easier for those just getting started.
I use just a plain white Charlie Brewer slider but I dip the tail in Spike-It Dip-N-Glow. I also add a pink Berkley crappie nibble to the hook. Works like a champ!
@jigginwithjake2796 practice fasho. I learned with a split shot on the end of my line shooting that thing under all my furniture 😂 drove my wife nuts for a week or 2
I’ve been posting good catfish videos all summer. But, I get it. You guys love crappie fishing as much as I do. I got burnt out and was very tired of my bank spots getting hammered. So, the kayak will see me to new waters and new videos.
Already watched the whole video while swapping a optispark on a corvette at my shop but wanna chime in great video do t even need to keep eyes on it to learn so educational. Can’t wait to take my son out this weekend to chase fall blue cats an crappies
Some good blue cat bait :) jk, i know we cant use em. Thanks for the vid, i need as much knowledge as i can get to catch panfish :) I been catching more channel cats with sliders that anything
While I'm not the best at dock shooting, those coves hold tons of crappie in the spring and fall! Thanks for the tips! Watch out for the swan, he loves to shake ya down for snacks.
I’ve got more coming. I heard everyone loud and clear. YOU WANT CRAPPIE CONTENT! So, here we go! Honestly, I got fed up with my bank spots getting poached. So moving forward, kayak it is.
Right now I’m fishing main lake docks that are anywhere from 4-8’ of water off the end of the dock. Finding fish pinned to the very back of the docks. As the water cools, these fish move into docks on coves. Sometimes it takes a little bit to dial em in. But once you start finding fish, you can replicate the pattern on other docks.
@@jigginwithjake2796 aw man, I can respect rhat though the only place I can't find crappie is on the occoquan river or certain lakes in the spring when they spawn
Hey Jake enjoy watching your videos. Have used some of your methods with my son and caught lots of fish. Just curious what lakes you fish? I go to Shelbyville a lot but always looking for other lakes near me to try. Thanks for videos keep em coming.
Good afternoon ! Jiggin with jake. You’re my favorite crappie TH-camr and I miss your crappie TH-cam videos. I’m a 60 years old man and I love casting for crappie and shells crawler and red ear and bluegills from the bank. I’m looking at two of the ACC crappie stix spinning rods but I have the money to just buy one of them and I need for you to pick me one of them please and the two ACC crappie stix spinning rods that I’m looking at is 1. ACC crappie stix green series 7’6” split grip casting spinning rod.2. ACC crappie stix 8 foot super grip mid seat spinning rod. Please pick me one of them Jiggin with jake. The fishing that I will be doing is casting / float bobber crappie fishing from the bank but make sure that spinning rod that you pick for me have a strong enough backbone to land a bass are a catfish if it gets my bait and I can land him to the bank please. please answer my question with your honest opinion please I’m counting on you Jiggin with jake 🙏

Hit the coves and the lay downs. You’ll find them there too.

I’m also a big fan of crappie nibbles! Always a great addition to any jig!
If you ever hit Clinton, they've got some slabs out there, if you can find the right spot.
Sincerely, a fellow central Illinoian
Oh yeah! I’ve filmed several videos on Clinton.
Nice Crappie.
Thank you sir!
Can't go wrong with dock shooting ever🎣. Enjoyed your footage as usual bro. Tightlines 🫡
No doubt about that! Such a fun and rewarding way to catch crappie!
@@jigginwithjake2796 You can say that again. I think i like it the most because not many people know how to do it😁
It takes some practice. But I had a good teacher!

That’s a smart move! And a great way to keep your marriage spicy! 🤣

Thanks Dana! Hope you and Joe are doing well!
Not out as much as we would hope but we've caught a few this year. Keep making those videos!
Well hopefully I see you both on the water!
I’ve got two more crappie videos in queue!
Thanks for sharing that way of casting, pretty slick!
Definitely! Glad you enjoy the video!
Been missing your videos. I always enjoy them.
You’re entered bro! Thank you!
Excellent! Is there an ideal depth of water for the docks to be in? You mentioned 4' of water.
That just depends on water temps and time of year. Fishing each dock thoroughly will tell you more on where the fish are stationed.
Great video Jake. Keep 'em coming.
Thank you! More crappie content is on the way!
Nice video Jake, it's so good 2 see u we definitely miss your content thanks James H.

Great video on dock shooting!
Thanks Eric!
Good video!! Any rhyme or reason for dock selection? Do they all hold fish or are you looking for key attributes?
Right now I’m fishing main lake docks that are anywhere from 4-8’ of water off the end of the dock. Finding fish pinned to the very back of the docks. As the water cools, these fish move into docks on coves.

@@jigginwithjake2796thanks!
What body of water was this if you don't mind me asking ?
That’s the one question I don’t answer.

Where you from?
This lake is in central Illinois.
Hey Jake, what kind of trolling motor setup are you running there?
That’s a 18lb thrust Watersnake motor with the kayak mount

Hello! Thank you for your kind words. I would recommend the 7’6” split grip! It’s my favorite casting rod and will handle bigger fish!
