Vietnam was the reason that in Desert Storm there was no going home until it was over. Reason: we were there to win. Two tours, 91 and 95 for Operation Southern Watch. My Uncle Bill was drafted in 1965. My Grandmother and Mother were beside themselves until he called from Fort Polk to let us all know that he was going to New Ulm, Germany. He came home in 1967 and had us kids asking him so many questions. I left for the USAF 20 Mar 75. Retired in 1996 as a Master Sergeant. I was a lucky Texan as I had 2 tours at Dyess AFB, and one in Arlington for a tour in Recruiting. I did my duty to following many family members from the Civil War to Desert Storm. I lost friends along the way.
