Shaq wasn't on the Lakers before Kobe. Shaq got to the Lakers in 1996 which was Kobe's Rookie year , but was an already etablished Superstar in the league at the time, when he went to the Heat he was 13 years in and at the end of his prime, which makes sense to let D-Wade (who was averaging 27ppg 6.5ast and 5.5 reb) to lead the team because he wasn't the same Shaq that lead the Lakers during the 3-peat.
2 hall of fame careers in two different jerseys had the league not been going through it’s rebrand during this era he would’ve won mvp 6 years straight and he’d have 3 finals MVPs (you can look up his post season numbers compared to shaq on their 3rd chip run for proof)
I was born in 1983 and had the privilege of witnessing so, many great players throughout NBA History. Unfortunately, I was born in 1983 so, I don't judge the greatness of other players I am ignorant of. MJ's the greatest I've ever seen in my 40 years and Kobe was the closest. But, I don't get upset, when older folks say otherwise, because I would be speaking out of emotion and ignorance. I don't speak on things I never saw. I was either too young to know or not existing. Lol. This is why I never correct people, whenever they put other past greats like Kareem, Bill Russell, Wilt, etc, over MJ. Those guys played in a different era and different positions and were killing as bigs. They were at the top of the food chain. The good news for my case is that most people who saw those guys play, agree with me on Mj being the best they've ever witness. Kobe was a lesser, polished verion of MJ with more weaknesses, but was still a killer. He was determined to out perform everbody and even soughtout MJ and others as a mentors. He improved each year and was dangerous enough to gain the attention and respect of MJ/many others. Although, I think MJ was better than Kobe, I still think Kobe had the skillset and drive to beat MJ. I just don't think he'll win more than MJ one on one. Regardless, R.I.P. Mamba and all the NBA greats that has passed on and salute to the builders of the sport.

Nah I remember what happened during this time. It was Kobe getting criticized because he was getting rings with Shaq instead of on his own because back then it was less respected to have another top five player on your team. This is before Lebron made it acceptable to have other top players on your team. So Kobe pushed Shaq off the lakers because he wanted to prove he didn’t need Shaq to win which he did by winning two rings after Shaq left.
