Lex, you rock! I must have watched 20 dishwasher videos but yours was the only one that checked out the draining problem from top to bottom. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
So weird seeing another maintenance man doing the same job I do, I've never had to vacuum the pump though, actually I had never thought of vacuuming that part of the dishwasher before, lol. Great job brother, thanks for the tip.
This video was a life saver for me. I'm a single mom living in an apartment complex that hasn't had a maintenance guy in 2 years and the last time I needed a dishwasher I had to wait 9 months!! I'm not about to do that again. I decided to use my wits I've gained over the years and take a look at this bad boy myself. I've got a nice little supply of tools and with my father being a mechanic, it's in my genes to figure things out and fix them. So I took a look at every thing and figured that I probably have a clog. I decided to watch the professionals on TH-cam to see what it entails before i start taking things apart because I'm smart enough to know that there's a lot I don't know. I have already watched about 5 videos and this one is the one!! This is my exact dishwasher on the inside and so this helped a lot. But one thing I realized I need is a wet/dry Shop Vac, so I'm gonna find a small one that will be easier to store in my small apartment. Any recommendations on brand?? Thank you so much for sharing this. I saw one video where a guy used 2tablespoons of baking soda and about 1/4 cup water and mixed it up and poured it into the drain on the inside of the washer, then poured 1cup of distilled vinegar down and let that sit for 5 minutes (after getting ALL the water out first, btw), then poured about 1-2 quartsof boiling water and then waited about 2 minutes and that seemed to clear out the clog. What are your thoughts on using those natural products and can they really work?
Can't believe I never ran across your video's before.Saw a comment that said "it was weird watching someone do the same job" , add to that I constantly talk to myself, and all the damn shit that won't turn, fit, etc....and man gotta say it is pretty weird...but highly entertaining!! You are so right a garbage disposal is absolutely job security. But Really REALLY BIG THANK YOU for the wet vac tip!! That is badass!! So much easier!
Dude...you saved me. I'm a single mom trying to DIY a dishwasher (along with everything else) and by god, I fished out the stupid orange ball thinking that was the issue. Fixed the actual issue (the tube that feeds back into the dishwasher was dislodged) and instead of spilling all over the floor it just wasn't draining and I was ready to give up. I sincerely appreciate your help!!!! Thanks!
You have such integrity...really cool dude..thank you for the tips. Thank you for thinking about the next guy, I too cant wrap my head around some people's justifications for doing some of the crud ive seen..there aren't too many repair guys or construction companies electricians plumbers or mechanics who still have integrity and operate with ethics regardless if anyone is watching them or not, who still have to lay their head on their pillow at night knowing they didn't muck it up or half effort ...this is a great video, have a good one. I pulled glass from a sump reservoir but not before i found it with my fingertips as i felt around jamming my fingers into three jagged pieces thru my glove..note to self flashlight and extension mirror.
I saw 20 similar video tonight and your helped a lot! It is a through check in a pleasant way. I did cleaned all the accessories. In the end, I take off the hose and vacuumed it, done! Thank a lot! Will make my Amazon order through your link.

Just a quick reminder. Before pulling off drain lines under sink and under dish washer, remember to unplug the dish washer from the wall outlet or kill the breaker to that outlet. If there was a cut or bad spot in that dish washer cord and its laying under your arm when you pull lose the drain tube, well, water and electricity do not mix. Just be safe. Unplug it first. And make sure you get the correct plug. If you accidentally unplug the disposal, which is switched from above anyway, the other cord is still live. Be safe. Jpol.
Man... I’m having the same issue. But never thought about sticking the vacuum hose inside the hole. Thanks for the video boss!! I have been in the maintenance field for 8 years and this is rarely me troubleshooting dishwashers.

I got a dishwasher thats not draining. Will replacing the solenoid fix the problem? Ive cancelled out any other thing that could be causing it to not drain
Question for you on my property are GE dishwashers are having a problem with the drain solenoid magnet melting together n trashing the unit, it's been only in are newer dishwashers, have you seen that yet
Wow, no I haven't. Hopefully GE is replacing them for free for you. Our GE refrigerators all have bad circuit boards and freeze up though. GE sent us 200 circuit boards for free. Sorry for your troubles. I know it's gotta be annoying. Thank you so much for watching Giants Freak!
keep up the good work skid... who ever put that discharge hose on more than likely fliped it over to install the hose and water supply at initial install...not nice...dishwashers and disposals keep me busy too... gotta love em....not really...lol
Where did you get the service manual for this one? I have what I guess is the same model, but all the searches I do turn up the user or install manuals.
awesome video. Thank you for the enlightenment! Had to fix our Hotpoint dishwasher in our rental unit. Turned out a straw had been clogging the little basket filter.
Good to see everything that was done, though I might have went in the reverse order assuming the clog was somewhere inside the dishwasher first before moving to the hose, or the disposal. The clog could be anywhere though. Two other videos had the clog where the drain hose meets the disposal.
@@LexVance Turns out I had a grease clog about two feet away from the disposal in the drain hose. At least I did catch it before having to remove the dishwasher from the cabinets...I noticed standing water and air inside the drain hose even though nothing came out when I detached it from the disposal.
Makes me nervous to have the electrical cord plugged in when you are draining the hose! Yikes! Thanks for the tips...passing the info to my husband cuz we have a problem....not sure I want to deal with the issue!

Ok...Our dishwasher had a terrible smell...I tried the vinegar cycle and regular cleaning..still smelled horrible..i took the inside apart to get to the screen and pump hole, scrubbed with vinegar( and safe cleaners)..put back together..then pulled out hose and checked for blockages and put back....then ran cycle with cup of vinegar on top rack...smell completely gone, but not draining(and a weird "clacking sound")...and kitchen sink draining a little slower😥
I have the same problem w/ mine.but mine drains well goin thru the cycles until the last of the load.when it gets to dryin cycle and finishes there is still water left in the bottom.any suggestions?
john foy A little water or a lot? There's suppose to be a little water on the bottom. It says in the manual that it keeps the seals & gaskets from drying out. Thank you so much for watching John! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Lex...I have the same problem John here had but to answer you....a LOT of water. Seems the last cycle does not drain out. I watched it in the disposal over the whole cycle. The wash cycle drained but the rinse did not. Any help is a blessing!
What I do is use the co2 cartridge n blow threw drain hose onto washer. See what comes up. NOOO do not do that. Most dishwashers have a one way check valve.(not just the little ball) You will blow the hose apart are eat everything that comes out of it.You could however blow it from dishwasher side to disposal side. Don,t do it in reverse.Take it from someone who has learned the hard way. NICE video Lex I always enjoy watching. Thanks for Sharing.

@@LexVance You are welcome, and thanks for posting! I've got my dishwasher torn apart right now. Ahh, nothing like the smell of a clogged dishwasher drain. . . There's a candle scent you'll not find anywhere!

Ball is good, pumpkin seeds no bueno. When we get to the 60's all hell breaks loose and some fools break out their parkas, I'm at the butt end of TX, yesterday it was in the 90's.

Use a small 1/4 inch ratchet on those hose clamps if they are turned down like that.
Right on. Thank you so much for watching Jpy!

But how doeas the pumpkin seeds went there??with all the filters, theres no possible that pumpkinseeds could clog the hose??...
Probably backfeed through the garbage disposal drain. Who knows.
Just had to clean out my drain hose on the garbage depose end it was all clogged up with gunk; now it drains probably.....that means the dishwasher I threw out wasn't broke ....thank God I found a silver used one for 120 bucks
Nice fix Emmit! Thank you so much for watching!

Didn't help.... my line is clear and I've already replaced the pump and still a no go. I can hear the pump humming but nothing is happening.
Hmmmm you've got a head scratcher there.
Shoop_32 Me too. Did you ever figure out a solution?
How do you just flip your knob over, and drain the dishwasher?
Just slowly turn it clockwise until it drains. After 20 yrs, I've got the touch.
👍😂👍 Thank you so much for watching Eric!

@@LexVance ..Thanks man
Ok...Our dishwasher had a terrible smell...I tried the vinegar cycle and regular cleaning..still smelled horrible..i took the inside apart to get to the screen and pump hole, scrubbed with vinegar( and safe cleaners)..put back together..then pulled out hose and checked for blockages and put back....then ran cycle with cup of vinegar on top rack...smell completely gone, but not draining(and a weird "clacking sound")...and kitchen sink draining a little slower😥
GE
I literaly had pumpink seed in mine too found this video and bamn pumpkin seeds no lie

Any help is a blessing!
btw who is skid?
Just a word I substituted for dude. No one in particlular. Thank you so much for watching Ferdie!

What I do is use the co2 cartridge n blow threw drain hose onto washer. See what comes up
Armando Monreal That's a great idea! Thank you so much for the wisdom Armando!

The music was annoying in the beginning. the info for the dishwasher was great.
👍😆👍 Yea, this video was when I was starting out. I figured out later that people like 5 second intros. It's about you guys, not me. Thank you so much for watching Evangelist Joan!
@@LexVance you have great info in your video. However I might have to call someone to come and fix it. I don’t have the tools to take things off.
If u have to pull it out, pull it out its only a dishwasher not a auto transmission.
Thank you so much for watching Abel!
