I know this is a big request but I really love the song St. James Infirmary blues by Abner Jay. In that song and Starving to death on my government claim he does something really cool and it's my dream to know how to play that. Thank you so much for your videos by the way. I don't have anyone in my life right now who knows how to play and they're like a personal teacher!
This is the song that inspired me to study banjo. Beautiful, haunting. Matt Kinman's version was the first listen I had. Thanks so much for this lesson, Clifton. Heading over to Patreon now.
Such a great song and lesson! I'm struggling to combine the double shuffle with the melody as indicated in the video. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance to whomever replies!
Always a pleasure Clifton. Every video before this one has pushed me closer to finding a damn banjo now I'm like fuck where the hell am I gonna find a banjo lol
Whatever you’re filming with has a wonderfully crispy quality. Audio is pretty clutch as well. Are you using an external mic or just the cameras audio?
Hey Clifton, I just finished watching a Q&A video of yours from about 4 years back and you had mentioned something about heritage. Talking about the differences in Eastern Tennessee, Northern Georgia and Eastern Kentucky banjo playing. Now I am interested in hearing these differences but I cannot find a video already on the subject. I was wondering, however, more about the Western North Carolina banjo playing style as compared to Eastern Kentucky. I would really value your knowledge on the subject.

You're in luck! I did a lesson for "Saint James Infirmary," which I learned as "Old Joe's Barroom." th-cam.com/video/sWiIClPhiP0/w-d-xo.html
