    Great Vid. My Ole Man drove for IT when I was little and purchased one of the trucks in the early 80s. I still see the old IT trucks now and again on the road, truck shows, and junked out in the trees in MN.

    My father Pete Kissinger leased on with IT in 1954 with an R190 International and stuck it out with them till they sold out in 1985 at the age of 65 and retired. He passed away in 2002. I spent 45 years in the industry and retired in 2017. Bin a Hell of a Ride!!

    I was on with IT from 74 to 88 - unit # 1148, then 26, and then heavy haul 9526, handle was Spaceman, and from San Diego. Sorry we missed the IT reunion Ronald. My wife, Lynn, used to be married to Greg Gola and they ran two-man in a Freightliner from 76 to 79, also from San Diego, but she can't remember her unit # and her handle was Thoroughbred. Lynn and my paths didn't cross until 88. Lots of great IT memories.

    Another old IT driver, unit 4117, Western Division. Early 70's. Had a '67 Mack with a 318 Jimmy, 15 speed Road Ranger. No guts, but it could climb anything with that low gearing. Went on to drive for 'the man' the rest of my 40 year career. Missed the freedom, but not the pressure. Thanks for the post.

    I leased to schneider in 1990 @ the rochester mn yard. Haul with a few old time IT guys, pulled alot of old IT trailers. lot of fun until schneider recked it in 93. sold my 98 kw in 2003 and left the business for ever! But I still get home sick for the road.

    Grew up in East Peoria Illinois. Always had my mom or dad drive by the IT yard so I could look at the trucks. Was pretty easy since we crossed the Franklin street bridge or went to Steak & Shake a lot.

      Mm My grandfather operated the shag truck at the Peoria terminal. He would take us to the terminal and then to steak n shake , when we would visit him.

    Can someone please tell me why the trucks have so many license plates on the front. Thanks.

    • @jarrelldaniel4199
      @jarrelldaniel4199 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The license plate deal was if you drove in the state you had to have the state plates visible.Yes technology has came a long way. If I recall correctly, before the ifta stickers,you were supposed to buy a certain amount of fuel in each state. Please,someone correct me if I am wrong.

      They use to have tags for states they ran thru

      Jarrell Daniel They also had to print the SCC/State Corporation Commission and/or the PUC-Public Use Commission numbers for each state on the drivers side of the rig itself. It simply depended on each state requirements. Some states required a tag, because the original truck tag was a state and not a multi-state PY Tag. That tag didn’t come for good little while. So most of the state’s the rig would run in, a number was required as well as a fuel sticker that had to be carried in the cab back then as well.
      It was called a bingo card and all of those required things cost lots of money.
      I remember when the lower right corner of a trailers back door carried the dollar amount in paid road use TAXES, until the number became nearly a 5 digit number. So if you didn’t buy enough fuel in every state you ran through, that state would levy a state fuel excise tax that had to be paid quarterly. It would be something like three places to the right of the decimal point times the total miles run in the state.
