    In these weird times we are living. Remember that nature is a way of relaxing. Sit back and just watch your aquariums for a while. Do a water change. Let it take your mind off of everything going on in the world. Hope you are all staying safe out there! Stay tuned for tomorrows video! ✌🙂 Thank you all for the support! 🙏🙏🙏

    Cool tank in nature style. Your Black Phantom Tetras are beautiful. Usually I have seen them in pictures and did not pay attention, now I am changing my mind :D. Maybe this is about light setting but in your tank these Tetras rule.

    these plants are looking amazing, my guy! I'm stuck in cali, away from my 20 gallon planted tank. I have a friend feeding the fish and doing water changes, but I think there might be some algae accumulating as well on my tank. hopefully it'll clear up with a reduction in lighting hours. anyway, I'd love to see some plants with a bit of red, maybe in the back or towards the back of the middle of this tank?

    • @ThePlantedTankTV
      @ThePlantedTankTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every time I setup a tank people want red in them all. I'm a much bigger fan of all green tanks. I think they look a lot more dynamic with all the different shades or green. Red plants are kind of over done these days. If you check out ADAs tank most of them have hardly any red. That's because it's not very often you see red plants just randomly mixed in with all the green in the wild. It just doesn't feel as natural.

    Dirt is really under rated. is it any better than ADA soil?

    • @ThePlantedTankTV
      @ThePlantedTankTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally still think Aqua Soil is better. But only because it can last longer than dirt because of its CEC value. So as long as you are dosing the water column and using root tabs here and there it will last forever. Obviously you can still use root tabs in dirt but dirt can't absorb liquid fertilizer like aqua soil can. Aqua soil also lowers the hardness of your water making it a perfect environment for your tropical fish. Some argue that you can do the same with dirt by adding peat moss. But diana walstad doesnt recommend doing this because it wont let the dirt decompose like it is supposed to in order to create co2 naturally. I could talk about this all day but like I said my personal preference is aqua soil. ✌🙂

    Hi! Request you to make a video of your opinion on dirted tank vs aquasoil, as you have good experience of both. Do you think your dirted tank always looks a bit yellowish?

    Really very beautiful set up, actually Im from India I did a plant aquarium setup at home. I have one doubt, how long a driftwood takes to settle in the water. Sir, can you please tell me. Because it's been a week but still it's not settling in the water. Any suggestions for this...??

      Should I boil the driftwood....??

    • @syedaltamish2338
      @syedaltamish2338 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have myself prepared a lot of driftwood for planted tanks. First of all get a totally dried piece of dead wood. and after that soak it in water by putting some weight on it of course. Leave it like that for 3-4 days. Take it out then clean it thoroughly using sandpaper or a brush scrape of any bark or junk . Leave it for drying and after that and then make the piece smooth using a sandpaper.
      After that leave it aside in a bucket of water for 1-2 weeks. Dont forget to change the water after every 2-3 days(whenever it becomes yellow or stinky) After some days u will notice that the piece is actually sinking in the water. I would recommend you to boil this wood for 1 hour in a container or u can add boiling water to bucket if the piece is quite large. Clean the piece everyday and you are good to go.
      It will produce tannins for some days in the tank and make the water a bit yellowish. After sometime it will be perfectly fine. (Tannins are good for fishes actually)

    Now, now, Ms. Walstad wouldn't approve of using a filter or artificial aquarium lights in any tank inspired by her😎.
    She preferred using circulation pumps and more natural sunlight.
    Anything more would be cheating, my dude😂😂.
    Who cares anyway, that scape is beautiful!

      @@ThePlantedTankTV Filter is fine, surface agitation looks a little strong ref. Walstad recommendations (and my experience), Walstad tanks use artificial light and some daylight - light intensity must be high in hard water, duration as you are rightly say must be less than normal to control algae. CO2 generated from Yeast in small amounts - i.e. keeping ppm below 15 at peak, would fit an eco low tech Walstad spirit if not law - fish look great, well done.
