Dear Dr taimur, there are also some verses in the Holly Quran that direct the women to talk to the unknown men in hard tone instead of softer tone so that the men don't feel any unnecessary and harmful attraction in the women. Thats the same mindset we find popular in Pakistan 🇵🇰 where people think that if a woman / girl is not veiled or wearing a scarf, then "she is asking for it"!! That's the sort of feudal mindset that still prevails here. I would dare say this has less to do with patriarchy since you've rightly pointed out that this tradition wasn't followed among the tribal people but instead by Cosmopolitan empires of Sassanid etc (Egypt being one of the exceptions) which had entrenched feudal structures. Tribal societies were more egalitarian across the globe because of a simpler society and a more horizontal structure. The verticalization of supply chains and specialisation of labour created rigid class / caste structures which became mostly hereditary for the last 1000 years. This period had a negative and toxic effect on all institutions and values of society including patriarchy whose initial primary puropse was to identify the male parent and fix responsibility for maintenance of child and mother. The institution of family itself morphed in to a micro feudatory estate wherein all the individuals of thr family, women and children were chattels for the head of the family.
Can you present the reading references of views of Islamic scholars as well that share this view? Surely someone from religious circles would have given this a though other than your esteemed self...or are we to assume ignorance prevails across the spectrum and all are historically unaware to the case made here.
Sir Some of these books are so expensive. I would love to read all of these. How do you recommend I get them on my hands so I may access them? Is there any website that sells them in used condition?
One more thing that you have missed, how this Niqab was made compulsory for All women in Islam?? Why the current Ulemas put so much influence on Niqab? When it got changed?
The Prophet has told us to do niqab. The Quran uses the word khizab to cover the face. Islam doesn't ask to cover hands but covering face is recommended and hair is compulsory. We can see the women from the house of the prophet.
Sir please consider this hadith about hijab from musnaf ibn e shaibah 6382. and Sahih al-Bukhari 146 From this you may comprehend how ayahs were revelead.
I would like to clarify one thing. According to hadith "Caliphat will remain 40 year means( Hazrat Abu Bakar....Hazrat Hassan) then cruel Monarchy will come" So dont put Arabic imperialism in categary of 30 year of khilaphat. There were muslim monarch not islamic representator like Sahaba.

How can you say that women who observe the practice of niqab are sideline from the main stream. Niqab is not a barrier in any progress a women desire to make. Its society backward customs and mindset that stops them.
Niqab was the dress that accorded with segregation of the sexes. The culture of the time was that free Muslim women (not slaves) were secluded from public life. This had the impact of restricting their domain to the home. And this meant that they were unable to pursue professions such as becoming doctors, teachers, lawyers, judges, scientists and so on. Today, Muslim societies have accepted that women can enter these professions, as long as they continue to wear some form of hijab.

A very interesting series. Thoroughly enjoyed and learned. Thank you for your effort. Interesting and tragic that Islam allowed the Muslims to have relations with slave girls in order to protect them (strictly prohibited turning a free person into a slave unless captured in war). They had rights (unlike traditional slave girls) and the practice ensured that there wont be an unchecked exploitation and sexual transgression in society. And the later caliphs used the very religion to create an atmosphere of widespread exploitation of women owing to unchecked lustful transgressions of the ruling class of men.!! Current interoperation of PARDA is totally influenced by the socio-political and cultural norms of those eras. Not Allah's book. Sigh! Lectures like yours will hopefully enlighten women to wake up and sincerely try to decipher what Allah has commanded, and stop taking the word of Ullama; who never stopped to question whether what they are preaching is the true Islamic jurisprudence or a hodge podge of twisted rulings suited to please the rulers of the past. BTW, women are still enslaved today in the Muslim world.....be it that its mostly mental slavery. But slavery it is!

This had the impact of restricting their domain to the home. And this meant that they were unable to pursue professions such as becoming doctors, teachers, lawyers, judges, scientists and so on. Today, Muslim societies have accepted that women can enter these professions, as long as they continue to wear some form of hijab.
Jazakallah for answering. I have finally listened to your whole niqb series and I also being in the same profession as you are. I loved the way you tell the history , with all emotions and expressions visible in your style of speech.
And thiugh the covering of face is not mandatory in islam but it is regarded as MUSTAHIB or more modest and rewarding

But unfortunately you missed the ideology and opinion of the Fiqh e jafri and its imams who were closest to the prophet Muhammad saww and were also most knowledgeable, pious and reliable according to the prophet Muhammad saww himself. So kindly add that to your vlogs to make them even more comprehensive and reliable
