Does not work.. My software seems a bit diffrent. The warning triangle is bigger. I get no response doing this. Was it the first or the second place on the turn of the key??

Did this but didn't work bought a £20 OBD2 reader cleared it! You can get a OBD2 as cheap as £10!

What does this error indicate? Resetting this is great, but there may be a problem behind this

My engine malfunction only comes up a few seconds after starting the car and goes as soon as I turn it on

This happened to me yesterday. Ive had service oil light come on everytime i start the car, this started 4 weeks after an MOT. It says get oil fixed before 1k miles. Ive not done 1k miles but the engine malfunction light has come on so its booked in today for an oil filter change and oil change. Hopefully everything goes back to normal afterwards because its only done 34k miles. And its like brand new, although its 2010 plate.

I did the same on mine and it worked but the error kept coming back. Took it to the garage and was told the gateway module needs some resetting/repair although the re-coding wasn't necessary 🙄

I have a ford focus 09 1.6 diesel tdci,this message has started to appear on the instrument cluster.Its been in the local garage but they cant find any fault codes.Not sure what to do,like the car and dont want to get rid of it.

Many thanks for this. I had the oil service come up first then the engine malfunction a few days later. I have my 2008 Mondeo serviced every year by Ford, so I knew this was rubbish. This has now cleared both messages. Thanks again.

Got back to car, (Focus 06 plate 1.6 automatic) at supermarket car park and car was displaying engine malfunction and wouldn't let me even turn engine over. Searched for advice and found this and it was heaven sent. Many thanks!
