The change in Trench Lock is insane. Even from looking at the pictures it's hard to imagine it any other way than it is now. I knew there was an extensive canal system before Telford became Telford, but I feel stupid not realising that Trench Lock is named so because of the lock that was once there. In my defence though, I am 36 so I've never known that area be different than it is today.
I played this for my parents and it bought back so many memories for them. I feel quite sad at times due to the changes that have happened since my childhood as most of the fields or areas I played in with my younger brother and our friends have largely been built on. It must of been a little upsetting for my parents to some degree.

This is pure theatre, shows magically where what once stood in comparison to, today, so well put together, thanks.

OMG! this brought back so many memories. My aunt Pheobe and uncle Fred ran the Royal Exchange and on the opposite side of the road, that same aunt's brother Jack and his wife Esther ran the other pub (The name escapes me today). The New Inn was run by a sister of another aunt's husband. I used to stay at an aunt's house on Trench Road and listen for the mail/ milk train coming by in the early mornings. All or virtually all the bus stops between Donnington and Hadley were pubs. I remember K Camp opposite side of the road to The Duke (of York). Oh so many memories in this film. Thank you for sharing.

I lived in Winifred's Drive in Donnington in the '60's and cycled to King Street in Wellington for years. If I recall rightly almost every bus-stop between the 2 places was named after he nearest pub.

The Blue Pig was called the Shropshire Arms when the Incline plane was still there. Not the Blue Pig.

That’s when the Trench trot was a proper pub crawl.

One point to add, where your Pic shows the Barley Mow Pub, next to it, is the Cottage Springs, Pub, this seems to have been closed, possibly even earlier than the 1950's. It became just a house afterwards. At the rear of the property there were several abodes known as Cottage Springs Cottages.
