    lots of work to do yet. I will be very surprised if it opens in 22. Thanks for showing this to us.

    One of Toronto's many "lost" rivers runs (or ran) NW to SE under the NE corner of Bayview/Eglinton East. It supposedly still causes issues for buildings in the area. Any idea how that's been handled?

    Thanks for the video! This was uploaded only appx 3 months ago and I wonder whether the construction would finish by 2022, because many of these stations look like they need a lot more time to finish.

    Can you make another one now that it’s been one more year? Moved away from Toronto so I can’t see the progress myself 😕

    I see why they say "Opening 2022" because the construction work required and then all the burn-in testing still to go is extensive.

      might even be delayed to 2023. the university line extension took an extra year and then some to open even after all the stations were virtually complete.

      I'd be very surprised if they open in 2022 considering the buildings haven't even reached ground level yet.

      Well they are more complex to build than the surface stations since they need to be excavated, drilled, chipped and more underground construction.
      Also Eglinton might take the longest to finish since it’s the most complex station.

      @@austintandoc8187 oh absolutely. I have no doubt that they are much more extensive and comprehensive in terms of their production. They knew roughly how much work each would take when they bid on the contract and minus the extra work found at the Eglinton site. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any extensive cause for delay (again barring Covid) that should have added the extra 2-3 years on top of what they expected (original completion date for 2020). They could easily run into the issues the Crosstown is having in London which the burn-in alone is adding years to their deadline.

      not to mention changing in seasons hardens or softens the soil repeatedly in a cycle there has to be some way to expedite the project
      all transit projects needs to be finished come hell or high water

    I think it should stay as Eglinton West and Forest Hill should be Forest Hill-Cedarvale because it’s location is on the border of the two neighbourhoods

    Is track way always basically under public streets? Was any thought given to having 3 or 4 track way sections for skip stop or express service= Midtown Manhattan and Queens Blvd- Queens NYC and Orange (Broad St. subway-Philly)?

    • @VanishingUnderground
      @VanishingUnderground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      All under public roads, but given that they’re only running 2-car trains initially I don’t see demand for local/express service at this point in time.

  • @joel12mat

    Why are they going to keep the 34 and 32 when people can use Line 5?

    • @VanishingUnderground
      @VanishingUnderground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most likely to keep some service coverage to the neighbourhoods between stops. Compared to Line 2, it’s a longer walk from Eglinton to parallel east-west bus routes. 32 will also need to keep running west of Mount Dennis to Renforth.

    Am I the only one thinking that Toronto missed an opportunity to start its own Skytrain network by failing to build the Eglinton line as a light metro and tie into a refurbished Scarborough line?

      32 Eglinton West: Mount Dennis to Renforth

      Subway is full every morning. We should take a look at highways which are more expensive and take up far more space

    Why don't they plan the structure to allow condos being built on top of the stations? This should help them pay for the project.
