Thank you for making this video! Not a criticism, but an observation; have a look at the difference between your posture and Neighbour Bob’s posture as you’re working. He keeps his back much more upright, even when doing the same job that you were (broom and tamping). He used his arms (safer) where you used your lower back (riskier). Being aware of your lower back posture during extended amounts of repetitive work and staying more vertical through your lumbar region can help reduce the risk of herniating a spinal disc. Unfortunately, I know this from personal experience!
A small plate compactor with a rubber pad or a rolling compactor 99% won’t damage paver, especially of this size. Compacting helps with filling voids that will show when watering if not and also in solidifying your patio into your paver bedding.
Is it still possible to periodically use a pressure washer on these surfaces after applying polymeric sand, or will it just wash away the sand? If it isn't advisable, what can be used in place of polymeric sand? Grout?
I just purchased the exact same polymeric sand- and I do have a question. I just power washed my patio yesterday and wanted to lay the sand down today BUt they call for rain so I did not. But my question is this- after laying down the sand and brushing it and then blowing it- where will the excess sand go? My driveway starts where the patio ends to the side and I don't want to blow the sand onto my driveway and then have to blow it into the street? Am I being crazy here? Also what if it rains later in the day like a Thunderstorm( that could be a lot of water?? As mentioned I powerwashed yesterdayand there are many spaces now that I want to fil in soon but it seems that thundershowers are foreca`st for the next couple of days?? Any advice. Thank you.

When the sand goes/blows onto adjacent areas (like the grass next to the pavers)...what keeps it from hardening in those various places (when it inevitably gets wet)?
I'm redoing our 16-1/2 year old patio. I've thoroughly power washed it, used a cleaner, power rinsed that off, and applied a polymeric sand before watering it to activate the polymer. Ques: How long do I wait to seal it? Is 24 hours enough?
You just want to make sure that the sand has had time to completely dry. This depends on your environment. I didn’t not seal mine, but neighbor Bob did on his and it was after 2 days during the summer months with no issues.
The power washing should remove any of the existing sand that is loose and as long as you take the time to tamp it so it levels the blocks out you should be good to go. Hope this makes sense.
nice video guys. how many sq ft did one bucket cover for you? I have a 40 lb bucket of polymeric sand and I'm working with a 50 sq ft area with normal size bricks.
For this product it’s very quick. After hitting it for the first time for 30 seconds, it says to only wait a few seconds (5-10) and then hit it for another 30. Hope this helps and great question!

I bet you could get 2 of those tampers and rig up a lever joint so that when you pull in one direction, one tamper goes up, then pull in the other direction it lowers so it stomps down. It would resemble a soldier marching in place. If it could work you wouldn't need to lift a tamper repeatedly. It's still muscle powered, but at least not by your back. It would look something like this: ...../| |..●.| |/....| |.....■ ■..... |\.... |.●.| |...\| ■...| .....■ I like to tinker with wood and i think i could do it, but it would have to be metal to last. No noise pollution or back pain.

The sand isn't compact and dense, so it doesn't turn into large hard clumps when you blow off the excess.

How many square feet is that patio? Based on your usage, it looks like I bought too much! I ended up buying 6 buckets for a 750sqft patio.

Up here where the seasons can be kinda rough, I tend to do this about every 3 years or so
How many buckets did this take? Specifically for the walk way. I have a walk way I need to do that is about the same size.
The whole thing took two buckets, so if you're just doing the walkway, one will be enough.

Surface should be dry before applying. I did not add a sealer, but neighbor Bob did and just gave it a day or two before applying.

Yes, but will need reapplication eventually (time frame depends on your climate and environment)
Another big benefit of polymeric sand is its ability to help prevent weeds from growing between the pavers.
