Found a bit of a unicorn there....I thought from memory they were assembled in Australia from knock down units and filled out with some Aussie parts...a grerat car of the time worth saving.
Loved the review Barnsey. My Mum had one in the exact same colour but obviously new and immaculate at the time. I was always asking her to floor it so I could "Feel the Turbo Power"😆lol jokes aside watching this clip was very nostalgic for me. Ps... you got a definite bargain for $1OOO. Even if you just gave it a good clean you pretty much double your money. Shame that the paint is shot. I enjoyed the video mate. Keep them coming brother.💯👍👍
Fun fact, the airflow meter and the knock controller box on the firewall are identical units to those found in the Mitsubishi Cordia and Starion Turbos of the era. I had one of these at one stage, it blew the head 2 days after i bought it so i ended up scrapping the thing, mine was the Ghia version though
Hi, my dad and I loved this. my dad had a Telstar Tx5 Turbo of the same model in a burgundy red colour and it was the first car he bought new when he was a young lad. bought it on Ford Credit back in the day. loved every moment with that car and traded it and my mum's car in on a 1991 Mazda 626 eclipse. ever since then we always had a Telstar up until around the early 2000s where we couldn't get parts anywhere no matter how hard we looked and had to pass it off. up until a few years ago I've been on the hunt for a 626 or Tx5.
@@barnseysgarage1877 you gotta be kidding right??? I've been running around asking about parts and finally someone actually gives some decent advice. Thx Barnsey
Love the video, great to see another great car being saved. I just bought a 1985 AS Telstar tx5. Planning to do it up back to original and surprise my dad as it was our family car when I was a kid. Need to swap in a new engine though or rebuild it.
Sounds Great! depending whats wrong you can rebuild it just use google!! its a Mazda Engine so should be plenty of info on it. I want an early TX5 with the square wheels and digital dash! what colour is it?
A year ago i got an 84 Tx5 Ghia hatch. Digital cluster, tik-tak-toe wheels. Garaged for 15 years, full logbook service history, ashtray & cig lighter never used. 👌
My parents had the 1986 ZL Fairlane back in the day and had the stereo stolen out of it.The insurance replaced it with a Kenwood system that was no way as good as the pioneer.
@@barnseysgarage1877 from what I've found online it was a collaboration with Mazda and only sold in Japan and a few exported to overseas. I've only ever seen one of them on the streets personally so I'd say it's pretty rare

You can find parts these days! for engine stuff its a Mazda. I use Rock Auto in the states for a lot of parts dirt cheap and name brands!

i had the tx5 turbo 1998
Love these! My first car was an 89 Mazda Mx6 turbo (with 4 wheel steering) so I was obsessed with anything related
Also I read a rumour back in the day that a baffle in the rear muffler restricted power to 87kw. Remove the baffle to unlock extra power for cheap.
Was it red or white?

Is that a 'tickford'? 🤣
Yeah maaate it’s 1 of 1 🤪
My first car was a 1983 Ford Telstar.
What a piece of crap. Foot was flat to the floor on freeway and wouldn’t go past a 100klm speed
Righto! This one was Turbo …… not much faster 😂
