I would be thankful if that is the only place that you have found that the core needs replaced. I'm sure its disappointing but you did get the boat for a pretty decent price which makes it worth the hard work.. just think how wonderful your boat will be when done. It will serve you well for many years
Nice job on the plywood replacement around the hatch. Sorry to see there was another wet spot. That is the thing about repairing boats - repairs often expose ANOTHER spot that needs attention. At least this on is small and easily taken care of. Best of luck!

Just food for thought, you may want to reconsider using white due to the glare, you may want to think of an off white or tan to eliminate the possibility of glare from sunlight :)
