In the city I live in, we also have the Veo bikes, and they can only be ridden in the city limits. They shut off at the city borders, and you see them parked on the side of the road at the edge of the city borders.
I stopped taking my peddle bike to those paths years ago. Out of shape 230 pounders going 25 mph on e vehicles whizzing by is too dangerous for me and my family. I walk on the sand now where they can't go.
It's an issue with the parking rules set by veo people. If the operator pulls it off the path it's technically out of bounds and cannot be turned off, leaving it on the path becomes literally the only available option to trun it off when your finished with it.

I believe there is a bicycle rental store near by. Of course, the store has to pay for a building while these E-Bikes are on the path for free. It doesn't seem fair.
honestly the reason the guy from the company gave kinda stupid how are you allowed to block a lane of traffic that's seems really unsafe to be in the bike lane waer Santa Monica pd or LAPD I hope that company gets a fine from the city that's so dam stupid telling ppl block bike lane
California has stopped enforcing most rules and laws regarding bicycles and alternative motor vehicles. Now, it's pretty much lawless. Very dangerous for small kids and pets.
Don’t complain, rejoice that they are saving the earth. What i don’t understand is why the Democrat voters in Santa Monica don’t let them park freely on their driveways and yards since they fervently support such things.

It always takes the law a little while to catch up with new situations. Just pass an ordinance or something restricting parking to designated areas.

Just ban them already
The city should pass an ordinance, mark the lanes, and ticket. People probably don’t even realize it’s the bike lane if it’s full of parked vehicles.
Scooter Companies should be Fined, they know exactly where they are, and let this happen for several Hours
