In this video, Fabio Pedrotti explains the standard safeties present on board of all Pedrotti grain dyers, along with the advanced ones that can be fitted optionally on the machine.
The most dangerous and most frequent risk concerning grain drying is fire risk without any doubt.
Fire accidents occur in a specific situation during the cycle of Grain drying, and many of you will know perfectly what I mean.
If the central auger movement stops for any reason - such as a piece of metal or a stone stuck in the bottom case of the dryer - the flow of the crops inside the cylinder will stop.
This dangerous situation will cause the overheating of the crops around the combustion chamber of the dryer.
In the early years of our production, we saw dryers having fire accidents even with the Basic overheating Safety fitted on our burners, and we realized that it was not enough.
Even nowadays fire risk is still the main one (speaking about grain drying). Especially when drying oleaginous seeds such as sunflower, oilseed-rape or grapevine seeds, We must always be very careful.
DLC
That's why we've been providing all our machines with a basic but very important safety that appears nowhere else in the world market for almost 20 years.
Around year 2000, we released the DLC Safety System, which means Direct Line Control on the internal movement of both agitators and central auger. The DLC electronic safety system is composed by a pendulum connected to a sensor that constantly feels the movement of the internal agitator arms, which the Central auger directly drives.
If the recirculation process stops for any reason, the burner will stop working immediately, and an alarm will start flashing and ringing, communicating to the user that a fire accident is about to occur, in order to check the situation and act before it is too late.
In the touchscreen and 4.0 versions, it is even possible to set the app to receive an email when this event occurs, or check directly on your mobile devices what is going on and intervene also with the safety emergency button that you will find inside your smartphone and tablet applications.
LOCK-OUT BUTTON
Another fire risk safety that we provide is the overheating sensor located inside the burners that communicates directly with an IP65 sealed control case that hosts the bright red burner lock-out button.
INSPECTION DOOR SENSOR
Another standard safety system mounted on board of Pedrotti grain dryers is the inspection door safety sensor that does not allow the dryer to continue the batch process with the open door.
This electronic safety system is intended to protect users from accidentally insertion of the body inside the machine during the movement of the agitators arms.
And it also prevents from the loading of the Machine when the inspection door is accidentally open, that would result in an annoying loss of crops onto the ground.
CE CARTERS
A huge series of CE branded carters is fitted around the machines to protect all the moving parts inside the dryer. The triangular side carters prevents the accidental contact with the moving parts of the motors and shafts.
Furthermore, a series of bottom carters protect from the contact with the pulleys systems on the bottom of the machine, and a series of carters protects from the contact with hot parts of the machine such as the Chimneys for heat exchangers,
and safety nets protect from the contact with the moving loading augers and fans.
Finally, a series of yellow international warning labels is stuck on all the components
involved in safety issues, to prevent even the slightest risk.
OPTIONAL AND ADVANCED SAFETIES
These are the standard safety systems that we mount on board of every Pedrotti grain dryers, now let's have a look on the safety options that the most exigent customers have required to us, to be sure that no mistakes are made on their dryers even by their new employees.
The HMI touchscreens provide instructions, warning signs and guidelines in eight different languages that the user can choose to switch to in any moment.
Furthermore, the 4.0 communication protocols that we imply in our touchscreen panels allow to keep your machine connected to our Headquarters offices, where our assistance department can provide remote assistance in real-time checking your 4.0 grain dryer from our Italian offices or your dealer offices.
When requested indeed, we can intervene directly via DSL connection on your machine to change the parameters or check your alarm records to understand what is going on, providing real peace of mind to our customers.
