- This week, beginner blacksmith, Rusty Pearson, is making tools for the new hardy hole in his anvil. Starting with a DIY hold down (holdfast) tool, that would normally go in the pritchel hole, he's working with what he's got. Enjoy the mistakes and learnings along the way.

Nice! I made one myself but it’s too flimsy and it easily bends out of shape. Didn’t think rebar would hold up but it looks like it’s working well.
I like the anvil, but the weld spatter around the horn triggered my OCD lol
If I'm going to make tools like hold fasts, log dogs, hinges, wood working chisels and the like how heavy of an anvil and hammer should i be looking for? anvils seem so pricey (at least here in the US) $2.50/ LB or more. so 90 kilo = 380 GBP.
can it hold different thicknesses?
It certainly can. It adjusts to the thickness, which is why it's ideal for this sort of thing.
