- Loy Krathong Festival is held in Thailand every year in November, based on the full moon of the 12th lunar month. At the meditation center of Mae Jo University (Chiang Mai- San Sai District) thousands of sky balloons (Yi Peng) were released at the same time (held in 2010 on November 20th) and the result was this spectacular video. This Festival at Mae Jo (San Sai) is called Yee Peng. The ceremony started at 6pm (you have to be there before 4.30pm due heavy traffic jam) and the balloons were released at 8.30pm. So just enjoy this video and feel the special atmosphere.
one word...... WOW!!!! ^^,
Thanks. Indeed it was incredible beautiful and I was very happy to see it after so many years
it's really beautiful.. I wish I could be there :(
@greenloverz Celebration of the Loi Krathong Festival at Chiang Mai 2012 will be around 28th November 2012 (full moon). So I think the release of these thousands skyballoons at Mae Jo (University) will be the weekend before. This should then be 17th November 2012.
I love it.
I love it !!
this is just amazing
Thanks. Indeed it was amazing. I could not believe my eyes.
@darkchild82 . On 29th October 2011 it's for free (gift's are welcome). Be there at 4.30/5 pm and enjoy it with the locals. On 9th November it will be held again. This time specially for the foreigners/tourist. Entrance fee from USD. 100 per person.
Thank you for your reaction.
Thanks for your reaction
Ok. I think you will like it. Before you launch the lantern you have to make a wish and then release the lantarn. Have a nice 4th of July Party.
this just amazed me =))
Its like the 4th of July!
About 3000. They did two settings. This was the 1st one. So in total around 6000 lanterns. Before releasing the lanterns, we had to wait until they had closed the airport of Chiang Mai. Also during Loi Krathong Festival, less airplanes are allowed to use Chiang Mai Airport in the evening.
진짜 멋있다 최고!
very very awesome!
@andre2pi Yes it was amazing. Thanks for your remark.
Really beautiful....i went there also ;)
Thanks
Magic!!!:)
Hey, is this event free or do we need to pay to enter the Mae Jo grounds?
Wegen des Flugverkehrs ist es verboten, aber in Chiang Mai wird der Verkehr einfach eingestellt. Nach 20 Uhr fast keine Flüge mehr.
amazing
wow..
I did this for new years for 2012 but i was wondering what is the sparkling underneath the sky lantern...I would like to do that for next new year
@marcm1947 : Merci beaucoup pour votre gentil commentaire
@paultolor .. Yes, it was WOWW. When I saw the release of these thousands of sky balloons simultaneously I couldn't believe my eyes. Just amazing to see. Hope one day you can see it too.
@89Barty thanks
I will. U have a nice 4th of July day too.
Thank you gxfan039. That time, when i made this video, I couldn't believe my eyes. Just amazing. Hope you can see this one day in real too.
Thanks for posting this Ton. Does anyone know what the music at the beginning (about 1:10) was? It was very hauntingly beautiful and fit the spectacle quite well.
Tangled
you're welcome
Can someone please tell me what date exactly and where exactly this will be happening this year in Thailand?
no, but we totally should. this looks better than fireworks imo
That's right, but my video is real and in the movie Tangled (Disney) - I see the light - it's a fairy tale.
Amazing! It was like in the Tangled movies. I certainly go there this year. Does anyone know exactly the date of this festival in 2014?
Thank you for your reaction. Loy Krathong or Yee Peng is always during the full moon in November. In 2014 it will be around 6th of November. Hope you can make it this year.
Well, my dad and i are going to launch these flying lanterns for the 4th Of July party, so i just might see them.
@DJMACY429 They attached a kind of firework to the sky balloon. But be careful with it.
Hoezo??
I have no idea. I only know that in some European countries it's forbidden, due aircraft movements. In Chiang Mai they just close the airport as of 7/8 p.m.
Just like in the movie Tangled.
Thx 529550
@Latias602 no it's not....
I like it so its in Kazakhstan 2 dollars
The balloons are made of paper and it's only once a year . I think in other countries they have bigger problems with the garbage and pollution.
k chingon lleno d epaz
so beautiful but that's a lot of garbage to just throw into the air.
im work in firedept.. :/

講哪國語言阿!
I'm certain it would be biodegradable.
