I definitely agree with you and i dont advocate for people to pay for followers. However, often times perception is everything. Photographer with “more” followers tend to book more clients vs those photographers with “small” following. It comes down to many factors but we cant deny that having a lot of followers makes a difference- even if they are fake, dont interact etc…

You’re absolutely right, Franklin. Even though he said truthful and interesting things, for business, nowadays, buying followers, unfortunately, is what give the business a boost in terms of growth. If the account is rightly set and the owner is prepared to receive costumers, buying followers can be very beneficial and I believe many many businesses do that.

The problem with this logic is this… Instagram is also about what your prospective customers, clients, business partners, etc. SEE when they arrive at your page. They will immediately make an assumption about you based off of the vanity metric of your follower count and write it down as your status. So, if the crowd is sold out, and there are many mannequins inside, when your targeted audience walks by the window and see the crowd and the sold out sign, will they care who’s actually inside. lol but you better be funny once they get in there!!! 🥂

Well i think if you have 500 real followers and 1000 fake followers it shows 1500 followers if you have 1500 followers real and post a picture you get about 100 120 like per pics now if you have 500 followers and you post a pic you still get 100 120 likes difference if most people will tente to follow you more if you have 1500 followers then if you have 500 same likes.

This is a PERFECT explanation. Build a community, not just a number. 10K engaging followers, are so much better than 1M randoms who rarely engage with your content ever. Believe it or not, less is more actually, because of you just let these bot accounts run wild, your metrics are severely flawed as well and you won’t get a real representation of your analytics.

Well said. Personally it is how I view my following. As in I have a number which IG says is my follower count, and then I have a number which I consider is my real meaningful follower number. Even though that meaningful follower number is a lot less, (since IG is full of bots, spam and ghost accounts that you cannot stop), that smaller number is more important to me that any larger number IG might tell me. Reason being, that small group of followers has meaning behind them. They are not just a number, but a person, one I have more than likely chatted with and know stuff about. For me one of them is worth more than a million as generic number. In essence they are worth more than any money can buy.

Non-engaged Followers contribute literally nothing except to a deceptively inflated number. I run a fan account for a singer. All too often these days, I'll get a new Follower who follows me but not the singer. That's a telltale sign that something may be amiss. And these are just the public accounts I can see. In my opininon, as a beginner I am gaining good number of views but not followers. There are days when a follower would unfollow and it would literally break my heart. But then, I told myself, it's okay perhaps they are not the people who would appreciate and embrace my content. Coming from you now, it feels reassuring. Even if my followers are just a few number (for now) as long as they are the right people for my content, Im okay with that. But of course, who wouldnt like a large numbers of followers😂😂😂 Again, thank you.

I often get into debates with my partner on our wine blog because she is pretty numbers-focused and discouraged that we don't have 10k followers yet. She gets mad when I remove those fake or bot followers that have 1 follower themself but follow 6700 accounts. They'll never see our content, never click like, never comment or interact with it, so I remove them. It drags down our engagement rate to have large numbers of inactive followers.

People don’t check to see if your followers are bots or not, unless your profile is really messy and unprofessional. Having more followers (bought ones) will attract more followers (organic ones). I think it’s a little naive to think businesses don’t do that nowadays. I think your partner is quite right if you guys are talking business, but if it’s more of an “ethical” problem for you, then, yeah it’s good to keep your values at sight even when talking business.

Very funny, I had the exact same issue this week. Our new Instagram channel is slowly growing and we were very surprised to see 150+ followers added to the account overnight… and during the day, we heard a beep every 3 seconds for a new follower added to our account! And we have made no request!!!
I ended up removing over 1400 followers as they were all having the same template profile, 15 posts, 200 followers and +/-2000 following.
I totally agree with you this is like knowing the concert hall is fully sold out but you know only a small portion of the listeners will applaud for your posts or songs!!!
We have also been contacted to pay for shout outs in order to gain followers, but once again, this is so fake, … I largely prefer to have followers that are willing to follow us rather than pay for some posts with « dummy » followers….

Starting from 0 and building to a 1000 is hard and takes time. However paying for 1000 reaches that landmark quicker and then it adds a level of validity to what you are doing regardless of ifs fake or not.

Slowly, Mass deleting (like I did) isn't generally a good idea.

How do you delete that many followers at a time?

    • @ItsJonnyKeeley
      @ItsJonnyKeeley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Just organically one after the other.

My photography facebook page got targeted by follow bots. They need to follow random people to look like legit accounts, so they dont all follow just the ones paying for the service. Well i for what ever reason got chosen to be that real person. Now i have 1.7k followers on facebook but all of them are Indian men between the ages of 20 and 40. my posts get 2 likes and arent seen by the 250 actual friends and familly that follow me since the facebook algoryth only show your posts to about 5% of your audience initially.
At this point that page is pretty much ruined. I have to make a new one. It would take me longer to delete them all, than it would to create new

I have 11k ghost followers can I remove them in 1 day without getting banned?

Probably not, the best thing do is do everything organically.

"Followers" - pronounced "Foul Lures" because you get lured into following people who are foul. And if you notice the end of the word "follower" is the word "lower" as in lower forms of people....psych!
Sheeple - "people compared to sheep who are docile and meek and blindly follow others".😂

Sorry I have to disagree, you can stop these scammers from adding unwanted followers. Set your account private, and report and block these scammers msgs. ..screen your follow requests. Works for me! I’m not interested in high follower count, and fake followers. I much prefer authentic people who enjoy my work!

That's true, you can do that. You can also delete your IG account that will stop someone adding fake followers. (I'm sarcastically saying is it's not practical for a business to have a private account.)

Spot on as always. I got hung up on hitting the magic 10K, I was close.. very close but then I read a blog about 'ghost' & bot followers. Trawled through my followers and deleted a couple of thousand.
My engagement went up. I was back to having my old 'regular' followers chatting and it's stayed that way since. I'm slowly creeping up again but desperate to hit a number now as I enjoy the interaction.

I was a two time Suggested User to follow back in the early days of IG and while that felt amazing when it happened, I now wish it never did. After the second time my account got up to over 150,000 followers, but then everything started crashing. After months of sadness I personally removed 60,000 followers and that didn’t really change anything. Fast forward to present day, I’m hovering around 92k yet I’m lucky if my Reels break 3k plays and 300 likes. I’m still doing things my way, but it sure is frustrating.
