My opinion is the 2nd gen Yamaha XSR900. I bought one back in February. Everywhere I go people stare. Numerous people have ask me what it was, and numerous people have said it was a good looking bike. I've even had two different Harley riders tell me it's a good looking bike. Also in my town I've yet to see another one. I see MT09s all the time but haven't yet seen another XSR900.
That triple cylinder engine is nice. You can never go wrong with a Yamaha street bike, the MT and XSR bike series are great,
Bikes that really surprised me was these Maxi-scooters. Like the Bergman 400 or 650 they can haul ass especially the 650...

I have a new street triple rs now and even at 130hp I think it's to much to enjoy in the city. It is boring. On the track it is a beast and tons of fun. However in the city I really miss my MT-07.

Yeah it is a special bike. It is cool to see Yamaha keep the MT-07 a pure bike with no electronic rider aids bs on it, one of the few naked bikes without all of the electronic bs that you can still buy brand new. Yamaha needs to make a SP version of the MT-07.

I do the same stuff on my aprilia tuono as you do on your MT and i never get bored. I love the sound of a V4 engine it always puts a huge grin on my face.
I will say that Aprilia V4 is awesome, love that sound! It does get 🔥 in the summer on that bike tho, at least the one I owned.
The MT03 gets past over alot cuz of the fame of the MT07 and MT09. I've seen so many noobs jump for the MT07 or MT09 first and I've not heard of one of em not going down long after getting it. The adage that it's fun to ride a slow bike fast and boring to ride a fast bike slow will never change. Plus having a supersport on the street just makes you a speeding ticket target for cops trying to fill their quota.

@@sendysent I've had supersports before and have 1 now. I've had a Daytona 675R, CBR600RR, ZX6R, RSV4 Factory and I currently have a R6 for the 2nd time in my riding life. I've also been followed around by cops in and around Atlanta hoping I'd speed just so they can light me up.
Yeah I grew sick of cops tailing me and getting speeding tickets. I realized why sport bike guys eventually end up on a Harley. The small torquey quick bikes. are the best in the city to me. Torque is king on the streets, reason why Yamaha has ben so successful with the MT series which stands for "Master of Torque."
I sat on the Rebel 1100. Just a word of caution for tall people, the ergonomics are pretty clumsy for someone over 6-foot. Would fit someone smaller much better. Different Spokes TV did a review on it, for those interested.
MT-03, Z400, Z500 all great naked bike options for people looking to get started, or experienced people looking for a fun lightweight machine to rag on. Also CF Moto's small bikes offer good character.
I’d love a Honda Rebel 1100. I started on a 1987 Honda Rebel 250 and I rode that slow azz bike all over Florida.😂 It felt like I was sitting on a paint can mixer at 77mph…top speed.

I own a 2022 MT09SP. Love it immensely, sometimes get the itch for a Triumph Street Triple 765 RS. Both these bikes represent the upper limit of insurance affordability for me.
I test rode a 2019 Indian FTR with full exhaust & Lloyd’s tune. That thing was fucking nuts.
I ultimately decided on a Gen3 Yamaha MT09 over the FTR just due to the overall value you get in comparison (Quickshifter, etc)
I still think about the FTR though, that thing had so much character, which a lot of bikes are missing nowadays.
FTR 1200 is probably too overwhelming as a Roadster for most.. Indian might be better served lowering it to 750 to 950 perhaps.beautiful bike nonetheless.

It’s an in-line 4 naked, considered the spiritual predecessor to the mt07
R6 engine retuned for better bottom less top; sound makes me feel like a proper badass
On my list the CBR 929RR/954RR ($5000). Honda 919 Hornet ($3500). Kawaski Z1000 2006-2013 ($3500-$6000).
How many times did I tell you to test ride an Indian FTR-1200? So if you want a really light Bike get a new Buell 185 HP 450# Super Cruiser..
The rebel 250 was my first bike back in 94 and I almost died in that thing several times due to it being slow😂. Fun bike tho

Good stuff man. I agree, sports bikes on the streets are a lot less fun than a cruiser or dual sport even low cc ones. However, it’s hard to beat the scream of an inline four when you feel like you need to scream.

You are right. I had the Rebel 1100cc DCT great bike. Put 14,500 miles on it.
Just down sized to the new Honda SCL500 scrambler.
Again, it is a fantastic, smaller, and very agile bike. Bought 5 bikes in six and a half years. Love to changing to something new all the time just for a new experience. Greetings from the NJ shore.
DDv4 electronics can be disabled if you want the pure riding experience (I do not recommend it, but hey) and, more importantly, given your reservations, the electronic package is not produced by Ducati but by the mother company Audi. So rest assured.
When I owned that XFiavel S I always had the electronics turned off, never once rode with them on.

I've kicked myself several times for passing on the 07 for my mt03, but it's perfect for what I need. Commute highway, city streets. All that and a bag of chips. I have not done a pipe for it and may never cause my neighbors love the soft purr of the stock exhaust when I'm leaving late hours for work. It still does all the things man.
I love my Z900, its often shadowed by the mt09 but i love the linear power and the riding position is great. I feel like im riding in the bike rather than on top of it. I test rode the MT and it was great as well. Simply you cant go wrong with any of the modern nakeds.
Ninja 400rr is crazy
I've had the 400 i2 for a few years now and it's amazing handles gray and has plenty of power to get up to 120 basically instantly, perfect for the streets and honestly good for the highway but the only issue is reliability because I've had three engines warrantied on that bike.
eh, I know a guy with that Indian , he had it a month or two and got a BMW GS and mainly rides that. It looks cool in all but not practical.

Maintenance
The Honda Rebel 1100 has a known issue with oil leaks coming out of the engine. I was considering one until I saw how many people had the issue on forums / reddit / and youtube. Honda needs to step up there game for quality control.

The KTM 890 Duke R is the best naked bike under 1000cc. It's better than any Honda.
KTM makes some sick bikes, I love how clean their wiring is and ease of working on the bike.
