Another pet peeve: plus size means you pay an extra $20 for that extra few inches of cloth. Has some done an analysis on whether that is even necessary??
It shouldn’t be. The company’s would make more money by being inclusive and if they are up charging for an extra few inches of fabric then they are wrong for that.

It'll cost more depending on the size, style, etc. The patterns used for smaller sizes are cut very different from plus size patterns.
Example: making a basic A line dress with sleeves for a size 6 can take about 2 yards of fabric (depending on the length of the dress). Making a dress for a size 18 may take 4 yards.
The width of the fabric matters, too. The smaller the width, the more yards you need. Wider fabric requires less yardage, but costs more.
And lastly, keep in mind we're talking mass produced clothing. If you get custom made pieces, you'll be paying even more.

Children’s clothes aren’t proportionately cheaper than adult’s, and men’s clothes are cheaper then women’s even when they have the same amount of fabric. Companies definitely capitalize on plus size desperation for cute clothes. We do pay for the privilege of being considered real fashion savvy customers rather than getting banished to 4xl white tshirts from Walmart.
