It was clever of the game designers to get you to choose yourself a 3-digit code name. Of course everyone is going to pick 007. But if they’d given you that codename outright there might have been a copyright infringement
The only time I've seen and played this arcade game. Was in the departure "lounge" in Shannon Airport. Back in the early nineties. Had probably two games of 20p, then was ushered away by my parents. Could not stop thinking about this game, for the duration of my holiday. And never seen it any arcade in Ireland or abroad since!
of all the obscure arcade games to exist I actually remember this one. there used to be a pizza place in my neighborhood that had this game and one other game for the longest time. I could never get past the second stage. I always ran out of quarters.
@@GiacomoSorbi I don't remember being able to enter doors in it, just that one time I saw a side-scrolling game that looked basically the same as Sly Spy except for allowing two players at the same time instead of one (Sly Spy had two player mode, but it was sequential).
@@michellefernandez3155 Nope, Bad Dudes was an entirely different game with no guns. The game I'm remembering distinctly had gun-wielding spy protagonists.
As a little kid, this game was super hard to me. There was no such thing as “Get Good” if you grew up poor. I had a dollar if I was lucky. I’d play this a couple times and then one game of Pac-Man and one of Galaga.

Una mezcla entre Bad Dudes y Robocop, no lo ubicaba esté jueguillo se vee muy genial, la música me recordó a Act Fancer, si no me equivoco también de Data East
This game has a lot of similarities to the robocop arcade game. Data east made that as well. The level design. The way guys throw grenades. The sound effects. The same big ass gun.
Coincidentally this game was the arcade cabinet that Robocop smashed that bad cop’s bloody face through in the 2nd movie and it happens to be playing that level where Robocop’s corpse was found in.
I've seen hours and hours of arcade compilations and this the first time I've ever heard of this!!
I used to love Sly Spy... I first saw the cabinet in a Big Lots store lol
The only way to make this game more James Bond would've been to add a bartender giving you the option between Stirred or Shaken, not Stirred.
Or, you know, actually not putting USA flags everywhere? xD This is no James Bond, but Lil' Bondie
@@KasumiRINA correct. the US flag parachute.. was the easiest catch

Damn. It is a shame Data East is no more. They put out some great games.
The Avengers beat'em up was one of the best arcade games in the early '90s.
Now G-Mode owns all Data East video games.
@@wdcain1Side pocket was the best snooker game i played.
@JJOOKER13 YES! Teenage me remembers playing that! Has to be rare as heck to find now I imagine
Thank you I've never heard of this game before I enjoyed watching you play it
I'll never forget "Slyyy Spyyy!" for as long as I live.
I was looking for this game for 30 years, thank you so much!
Im happy this was never ported to the atari 2600. This game looks awesome. Never heard of it. Thanks for sharing.

That's President Ronnie. I fully believe this is in the same universe as Bad Dudes.
I think so 🙂
here: th-cam.com/video/s5H6-HEh4jE/w-d-xo.html 🤣🤣🤣
That looks like Barbara Bush, so maybe it's President Georgie? Makes sense, since it came out in 1989
"Oh, Sly..." You can't tell me this wasn't meant to be a James Bond game, except for the fact that Data East failed to get the license.
All their games look very similar. This looks like a combination of Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja and Robocop.
I'm proud to say I beat this in the arcade back in the day, but I sure didn't do it on one life. Nice job!
so many references to james bond movies thunderball living the daylight goldfinger for your eyes only the man with the golden gun
and the Spy Who Loved Me.
Ok there is a lot of bond in this as well
Wow the sound the dogs make when you shoot them is brutal
That was funny back then, before dog romancing became a thing
DataEast abused several dozens dogs to get the sound clip right.
This would've been dope at home on the NES, Genesis, Turbo Grafx or Neo Geo
The greatness of gaming
I’ve never seen the ending , thanks dude 🎉😂
This is not the real ending,t hat why the president says it has missing things.
@ last time I saw this game was in the arcades bro 😝
I remember playing this a few times in local arcades, and I could have sworn that there was also a sequel that had two-player simultaneous play.
I think you are referring to another previous game; was it the one where you can also enter the doors?
@@GiacomoSorbi I don't remember being able to enter doors in it, just that one time I saw a side-scrolling game that looked basically the same as Sly Spy except for allowing two players at the same time instead of one (Sly Spy had two player mode, but it was sequential).
You are talking about Bad Dudes. It happens in the same in-game universe and is an homage to Lethal Weapon.

Lol Dataeast going for save the American president theme.
Wow this reminds me of pow 💥 that was a classic game!
Haha the boss with the hat. Obviously inspired by Oddjob from the old James Bond movie.
The boss at the end of the docks level is also based on Jaws.
Jesus, looks like this was Pierce Brosnan's first role as James Bond.
I remember wishing this had come out on the NES
So, this guy needs 5 gun shots to kill a tiger, but only one kick? DAAAAMN!
😂😂😂
Que juegazo, cuando entraba en un bar o una sala y veia que lo tenian.
When i was a kid and playing this in the arcade. I could never beat the underwater level. I didn't wanna spend every quarter i had trying.
Crazy how similar this is to the robocop arcade game. Another data east classic.
As a little kid, this game was super hard to me. There was no such thing as “Get Good” if you grew up poor. I had a dollar if I was lucky. I’d play this a couple times and then one game of Pac-Man and one of Galaga.
These games were made to eat quarters back then. The difficulty was set to the highest level. Its a lot easier to practice when you have mame.

Its very similar to the robocop arcade game. Which was also made by data east.
Played this game 30 years ago in local Arcade place😅

We need this on a ps5😊
Atgames ultimate legends and coinopsX has this game.
Nice chelnov reference 🎉 in the 3rd stage
3:56 yesssss!!!
With that many enemy, you're not so secret agent after all
'missed a few things'? does that imply an alternate ending?
It's a red herring. It's simply there to make you think there is, but this is the game's only ending.

Giving Rolling Thunder a run for its money
this game should get a remake for current gen consoles. PSN usually have these old games. but dont know if they have data east games.
Stage 6 is Lucifer Sam by Pink Floyd, well, very close to it…
The dogs in metal slug arent doing the same sound when dying?
🤣🤣🤣

Lol Coke can as a health power up. Data East must have watched Leonard part 6.
I think I played the broken version at an arcade.

James Bond. USA Edition 🇺🇸
