1 fence picket = 1 bird house

One cedar fence picket and you can make one bird house. This is sized for a chickadee or a wren (1 1/4 inch opening). Give those guys a free place to stay and in return they'll earn their keep by eating the bugs in your yard (even more so when they have young ones to feed inside the bird house). I chose cedar because it's naturally insect and rot resistant.
And the roof is attached with screws so you can easily remove the roof to clean it out when your "renters" move out for the season...
