Beagles: The only dog in the world with the focus and determination to do anything it wants to, regardless of what YOU want it too. God I love beagles. :D
This makes me smile, as it reminds me of a beagle I used to have. He was the sneakiest little dog I ever saw, and would wait for the perfect opportunity to make his "escape". Everytime I thought I had beagle-proofed the fence, he would find another weak spot to exploit and I would be out hunting the neighborhood for him. I would have to pretend to leave the house, park the car and walk back to spy on him to find out how he was getting out!
Wow, that was amazing! My dad once had a beagle, they got seperated on a walk one time. She was found by a local prison, and put safely in a cell. I think they called (because she had a name tag and a number), but when my dad arrived she had escaped!
My beagles used to do this too. Although they weren't in a cage, there was chicken wire fencing roughly 3m high around the perimeter of their pen. One particular area had a tree quite close to the fence, and they would wedge themselves up against the tree and climb out the same way this one did.
Exactly...used to work for Colorado Beagle Rescue...we had to tell potential adopters that they're not for everyone...they're smart little devils that need a lot of attention...they're guided by their noses first and foremost!
I agree, they (beagles) seem to be wizards at escaping. My neighbors had a mom and son, they got out and were not smart enough to stay out of the street. No more problems with them escaping. They then got regular mutts who were not so intent on getting out and wandering around and alive.
The rock on the roof and boards on the top of the door suggest that he's made these escapes before. And he still got out. That is the Harry Houdini of beagles.
I wouldn't have ever figured out how he was getting out without the camera on him!! Wow! That was a determined beagle and his friends in the back were in amazement as well!! LOL
Finally realized that he just need some visual stimulation during the day, so, gave him access to the kitchen, which has a nice set of windows that would placate him throughout the day, as well as a little potty place in one basement room. As he got older, he was granted more access to the house to the point of his having the entire first floor to himself. Seems as though by the age of 2 years or so, they kind of become resigned to their surroundings and quit doing crazy stuff.
You know you're a bad dog owner when your pet has put forth an elaborately thought out way to escape from the clutches of man that requires the skill of a great ninja. On a side note, sad face at all the other dogs who were like, "Good for you! Wait...where are you going! Come back! Free us too!"
For a dog to make a jump that big he REALLY wanted out. Funny, people call Beagles "escape artists". Mine has never tried to escape. Maybe because she is always inside asleep on my couch, my bed, or wrapped up in her blanket on her oversized dog bed. Not in a teeny tiny crate with little to no human interaction...
Now I know what NOT to keep my beagle in when I'm gone! We always joke that ours is Houdini because he gets out of anything that we try to barricade him in.
You could just picture the dog thinking, "Hmmm the door is locked, but how about....." then the MI theme music kicks in and he is off lol :) Clever mutt :)
Beagles are natural escape artists, they are very intelligent and stubborn. My yard has 24" wide x 2" thick slab of concrete poured 12" below the ground and chicken wire in the concrete folded up and screwed to the fence so my Beagle doesn't dig out.
Mine was a piece of work. Was a little chunky so jumping and/or climbing wasn't for him. However, he mastered sliding doors or eating his way through others ones. Previous owner had cut vents in the bottom of one door. As he was in the basement, the HUGE basement, he was always exploring.
Our Beagles Baxter & Bindy are very much loved but if they see an opening they will go for it. We had to cement around the inside of the fence as they had crawled on their bellies to dig through to the neighbors. Its in their DNA they are very scent driven but very much LOVED if you can't deal with that you should not have a beagle!
I feel so sorry for these dogs. Dogs are social animals who crave human compaionship. That's why they thrive and behave better when living indoors with their pack -- their human family members. This is substantiated by the experience of rescue volunteers and shelter workers as well as trainers, canine behaviorists, veterinarians and animal welfare associations nationwide.
omg lol my beagle cross is exactly the same! we've spend like over 200 repeatedly 'reinforcing' our garden gates so he doesn't escape. and that dog so reminded me of him when he got stuck at the top and barked hahaha hugo ALWAYS gets himself into those kinda situations!
Of course they want to escape, imagined you're inside that flithy cage you also want to escape. Actually beagles won't escape when they see you as their leader. Mine always knows and treasures our home, she will never escape even the door wide open and always following me on walk even without any leashes.
D'aw, baby go splut. XD When our beagle was a puppy, she'd brace her back against the heavy wooden garbage can in the kitchen and hook her paws into the pet gate so she could climb to freedom in a similar way. Much shorter distance to fall, though, and she quit doing it as soon as we bought the video camera.
What a beagle wouldn't do for food! There isn't much our beagle won't eat. The only things she doesn't eat is walnuts and almonds. Anything else is game... fruits, veggies (loves cucumbers), worms, earwigs, bird poo. There is no 5 second rule in our house because in 2 seconds the beagles got it. LOL
Came home one day and he neglected to greet me when I opened the non-sliding basement door. Pucker factor was high. Went into the one room and saw a dark shadow up against the door with the vents. Thinking, "Om my god, dead dog," I reached out, touched him,, and thankfully, he was warm to the touch and moved a little bit. He had crammed his head into one of the vent holes in the bottom of one door and couldn't get out. Had to tear the door apart with my hands to get him out.
que perrito tan inteligente,en lugar de azotarse contra la puerta busca la manera de escalar para salir, esto muestra que los animalitos tambien piensan jeje,me encantan esos perritos beagle son tiernos XD
Don't get mad if who would guess that a beagle would go mission impossible and climb laterally. He's not a bad owner he's just a victim to the power of beagle. I have one too and he has a habit of climbing up and over a fence with a backyard play set.
Beagles are brilliant at problem solving. The human as the trainer needs to form all behaviors that they desire into a problem that the beagle would want to solve. Food, freedom or toy motivation can all be used.
He got all the way up and then realized he only had one way down! Beagles are too smart for their own good sometimes. I like at the end, the other 2 beagles are inside like "Hey, open this door man!"
Absolutely first rate that Beagles are the Houdini's of the dog world. I had one that developed a thing for going over 6 foot fences. Only the neighbor's 7 foot gate stopped him.

lol at the other pup at the end, puttin his paw on the door "HEY WHAT ABOUT US,MAN??"
Holy shit, seeing kitty here is like seeing a statue of someone long gone
Don’t underestimate the power of a beagle
Oh I would never do... if u have a beagle it’s always better to overestimate them and be prepared for the troubles they are gonna cause...
Wow, that was amazing!
My dad once had a beagle, they got seperated on a walk one time. She was found by a local prison, and put safely in a cell. I think they called (because she had a name tag and a number), but when my dad arrived she had escaped!

Wow I thought my beagle learning how to open doors was clever but this one really is a ninja definitely one of the most intelligent dog breeds
I really like the way the other three just watch - but ALL of their tails start wagging when he escapes. : )
This is what me and my family has learnt from generations and generations of dog ownership:
BEAGLES ESCAPE. DEAL WITH IT.
Lol she said I'm out this joint
Wow ninja dog
I agree, they (beagles) seem to be wizards at escaping. My neighbors had a mom and son, they got out and were not smart enough to stay out of the street. No more problems with them escaping. They then got regular mutts who were not so intent on getting out and wandering around and alive.

The great escape beagle version.
Smartest Dogs Ever!! I love Beagles.
I like how the wood at the top has obviously been hastily put up there prior due to a previous attempt :D
Selfish. Why didn't he open the door and let the others out.
I love beagles
Finally realized that he just need some visual stimulation during the day, so, gave him access to the kitchen, which has a nice set of windows that would placate him throughout the day, as well as a little potty place in one basement room. Because beagles are escape artists and keeping them in a shaded kennel is better than having the dogs become road pizza.
Great video!! All the little stinker needs to learn is how to unlock the door to let his buddies out!!
You know you're a bad dog owner when your pet has put forth an elaborately thought out way to escape from the clutches of man that requires the skill of a great ninja.
On a side note, sad face at all the other dogs who were like, "Good for you! Wait...where are you going! Come back! Free us too!"
Yeah the wee paw going up as if to say "Hey...Jimmy...come back yo!"
Love how the other beagles still left inside were like "Hey! What about us?!!?" at the end
For a dog to make a jump that big he REALLY wanted out. Funny, people call Beagles "escape artists". Mine has never tried to escape. Jessica Colella oh shut up
Now I know what NOT to keep my beagle in when I'm gone! We always joke that ours is Houdini because he gets out of anything that we try to barricade him in.
I love how the others are like "[paw out] AVENGE US!!!"
When we bred Skiperkies we would keep the puppies in a smaller kennel like that but only when they where outside to keep the hawks from eating them.
This dog is very smart. Wish my pinscher could make something like this.
You could just picture the dog thinking, "Hmmm the door is locked, but how about....." then the MI theme music kicks in and he is off lol :) Clever mutt :)
As soon as he got up to the top and poked his head out, an ad for some fake contest said "congratulations, you won!"
Beagles are natural escape artists, they are very intelligent and stubborn. My yard has 24" wide x 2" thick slab of concrete poured 12" below the ground and chicken wire in the concrete folded up and screwed to the fence so my Beagle doesn't dig out.
You know you have no sense of humor when you didn't realize it was a joke.
the other beagles are like, oh man I wish I was out there.
My beagle is the same way. He's a free spirit and hates being caged up almost as much as he hates being left alone.
Mine was a piece of work. Was a little chunky so jumping and/or climbing wasn't for him. However, he mastered sliding doors or eating his way through others ones. Previous owner had cut vents in the bottom of one door. As he was in the basement, the HUGE basement, he was always exploring.
...And that solves the mystery of the Beagle with 2 broken legs.
Our Beagles Baxter & Bindy are very much loved but if they see an opening they will go for it. I'm almost having a heart attack over here worried the beagle is going to hurt itself coming down from that high.
Wow O_O. Haha, I love it how the dog below is like "WTF ARE YOU DOING!". Bless, it's so cute though. Yet so cunning!
haha so cute..I love when he gets to the top and sticks his head out, you can tell he's thinking "oh shoot what do I do now?"
lol.. his buddies was like " yo bro, how the hell did you do that ?, now go get some foods back for us ! "
my beagle is always finding a way out of my fenced yard, it appears beagles are escape artists
cute! and smart! NINJA BEAGLE!!!
omg lol my beagle cross is exactly the same! we've spend like over 200 repeatedly 'reinforcing' our garden gates so he doesn't escape.
and that dog so reminded me of him when he got stuck at the top and barked hahaha hugo ALWAYS gets himself into those kinda situations!
JUST LIKE MY BEAGLE MALCOLM!
unreal how smart they are
omg this is soooo awesome!!:P this just shows people how smart beagles are!
Of course they want to escape, imagined you're inside that flithy cage you also want to escape. Actually beagles won't escape when they see you as their leader. Mine always knows and treasures our home, she will never escape even the door wide open and always following me on walk even without any leashes.
he's up there and like 'what now' this is too high
That's a farm and a surveillence camera. The poor dog made it to freedom for a minute or two before they captured him.
*Dog at 1:47 in the cage* "AVENGE ME! AVEEEENGE ME!!!
Beagles are so cute and especially when there puppy's
The other beagles say ``Hey you fool, wait for us´´ hahaha
wow... agile and clever dog.... lol and at the end the 1 in the shed is like 'dont leave us!'
That has to be a 5.11 free ascent.
Good work, dog!
This Beagle is like "Piece, I'm out!"
That dog is smarter than me!! Luckily for us they don't know the concept of team work.... yet
That Beagle was desperate to get out of there.
1:47 - "Look! He escaped!"
nothing made by man can stop a bored beagle with a lot of time on his hands
Brains. I bet that dog can smoke a rabbit track! The best rabbit dog I ever had could escape anything you put her in!
D'aw, baby go splut. XD
When our beagle was a puppy, she'd brace her back against the heavy wooden garbage can in the kitchen and hook her paws into the pet gate so she could climb to freedom in a similar way. Much shorter distance to fall, though, and she quit doing it as soon as we bought the video camera.
Yet another reason why beagles own!!!!
LOL
I know how this happened... The puppy is actually a ninja.
This Beagle is so smart and dexterous. Houdini style !
No device nor trap made by human kind can hold a bored beagle with a lot of time on his hands
GOD they are so clever, i love them
lol the other dogs are like wow superman flew out!!!
haha the other dogs are just staring at him like What are you doing?!
The one at the end that puts their paw on the fence.. aww
This is just like Batman escaping the pit.
Lol, I like the way it's head peeks out at 0:52. XD
aww....that was really cute. i hope he was ok when he jumped.
God that was funny when I first saw that little head poke out of the roof...lol
I think he's earned an inside position.
que perrito tan inteligente,en lugar de azotarse contra la puerta busca la manera de escalar para salir, esto muestra que los animalitos tambien piensan jeje,me encantan esos perritos beagle son tiernos XD
beagles are the smartest dogs ever
Clever little chap - he is truly amazing ...
Don't get mad if who would guess that a beagle would go mission impossible and climb laterally. He's not a bad owner he's just a victim to the power of beagle. I have one too and he has a habit of climbing up and over a fence with a backyard play set.
beagles are such amazing dogs
Now, after he'd escaped, if the dog had turned around and opened the door to let the other dogs out...that would have been even more something.
Beagles are brilliant at problem solving. The human as the trainer needs to form all behaviors that they desire into a problem that the beagle would want to solve. Food, freedom or toy motivation can all be used.
Unbelievable!!! a genius indeed!!! Besgles are great!
Beagles are just too clever
He got all the way up and then realized he only had one way down! Beagles are too smart for their own good sometimes. I like at the end, the other 2 beagles are inside like "Hey, open this door man!"
Wow that is pretty epic need some ninjas in my class would be good for them to take me too
Unlikely, if the beagle jumped into grass from that height it wouldn't have hurt much at all.
The Original Escape Artist!!!
when he reached the top, he was like, "oh no. now what?"
Absolutely first rate that Beagles are the Houdini's of the dog world. I had one that developed a thing for going over 6 foot fences. Only the neighbor's 7 foot gate stopped him.
The Harrison Ford of dogs!
This deserves more than 5 stars... You sure that wasn't a cat in disguise??
That is one smart dog!
I have a four month old beagle and now I'm wondering what I've let myself in for!
my beagle howles so much when she gets scared
