WOW, the new long nose Gar is gorgeous. He is a great addition to the pond. By the way, you're new pond is spectacular with all of the green plants, rocks, and the effort you have made to make the water clear. Great job.
My boys and I love your channel and have followed for years, enjoying all of your adventures. They love the name "Harpoon" for your new gar. Also, we'd love to see you cast net sometime. It's the most peaceful to watch, and my boys' favorite! Keep up the great work!
My kids saw Sawy. Since they think he looks like a saw. I vote for Needle though. Thanks for posting! Me and my kids love to see the updates on the new pond. The kids love the new alligator gar and the new pond.
Ive seen a lot of good names, anything related to a Spear (Javelin, Pike, Gungnir, Lance) are cool names. Arrow, Spike and Needle are cool too. Pinocchio is alright but hes a lot cooler than a Pinocchio, and definitely way cooler than a "Snoot" lol. Pinhead would be a appropriate funny name. Love your frequent uploads man
Really interesting start so far. If you haven't already, I would recommend adding some sort of quick breeding and small prey species, like sticklebacks, minnows, or mosquito fish. Small fish that will serve as a tasty snack for the gar, as well as any wildlife that may eat them like Raccoons, Herons and (depending on your area) Kingfishers. A suggestion I'd give is either have some sort of very shallow spot for small fish and tadpoles, or plant a large amount of plants around the edge, so the small fish and tadpoles have some place to hide. Both could work even. I think Javelin is a good name though.
Awesome new addition to the family. I think a great name for the long nose would be Gyarados. He has the yellow underbelly with spots just like Gyarados.
TOOTHPICK!!!! You should totally name him Toothpick hahahaha I don't know why, as I've seen some great suggestions from other people, but I personally grin like a fool when I picture in my mind's ear "Phantom's coming for one *chomp* Guad doesn't seem too hungry right now... Oh! But here comes Toothpick!"
Now that you have a pond with a liner it is important to keep close track of the most important water quality values. Such as KH, GH and PH etc. etc. Especially KH and GH should be monitored and if needed adjusted regularly to prevent dead fish. Not enough water hardness can cause all sorts of issues from algae to sick and even dead fish in a single night due to a PH crash. But it can also cause kidney issues with fish. But because you can't adjust the GH and the KH at the same time or within two weeks from each other because that would be bad for the kidneys from the fish and bad for some of the plants, it is important to measure regularly so that you are on top of the situation, and then you have enough time to make small adjustments by adding small amounts of minerals if needed. It is a bit of a science that needs to be done correctly and accordingly to the preferred conditions from the fish species that you keep, because if you do it wrong it can also cause issues. Your water hardness levels will drop over time because plants and fish will use up those minerals, and on top of that water from rain will dilute the amount of minerals since water from rain does not have those minerals. But both plants and fish need those minerals. And when they drop below a certain value it can even cause a sudden PH crash during the night, and kill all the fish in a single night!!! To make a long story short, it is best practice to measure your water quality values regularly, and to be on top of your water hardness, since that is also a buffer for the PH value from the water.
I saw a thing recently on how gar have some of the most ancient DNA which has changed less than even crocodilians have over the ages. It was discovered when a specimen from N.A. and a specimen from europe or asia successfully hybridized. These 2 different populations have been seperated for hundreds of millions of years so it was considered miraculous that they were able to hybridize after being kept in the same tank. They figure there may be something in gar DNA that repairs itself thus preventing mutations to flourish. I catch these where I fish (north of great lakes) and have seen some huge ones. They are difficult to hook. I have successfully caught one by hand though just reaching in really fast at a water fall. Neat fish
Are you going to put something at the bottom of the pond? So smaller fishies and the sort can hide/hang out there? I mean, the Navy hooks up the ocean wildlife with old carriers and boats, maybe you can do the same but on a smaller scale!
Take it out now!! before too late, my 3 feet gar ate my FREAKING 2 FEET TIGER CATFISH!! and you know how big the tiger's head is?? it can't swallow the whole fish so the tail still hanging out, I had the same thought like you too before that day.
I was gonna suggest that too but I like the trio of brown alligators being the rivers, plus phantom already broke that tradition so maybe something new will be better
I've seen the gar in the Ohio River surface feeding on floating vegetation like grass and tree leaves after storms when the cellulosic material was very plentiful on top of the slow current in five feet of water. Call the long nose Tweezers.
Javelin would be a cool name for this cutie! It is a type of spear!
I second this, great name idea
"PinHead"
@@xippzap”Who you calling Pinhead”
I like javelin, I was gonna suggest a name but this is just perfect so I second this
In the spear theme, "Lance" might be cool too!
Pinocchio!!!
This is the only correct answer.
To me this was the first and only name that came to mind.
I thought of that, but I wasn't sure if it was a bit unkind, seeing why Pinocchio had a long nose.
Sabre
I should of scrolled down. I also thought this was the best name.
Built like a spear, pointed at the front, but still robust, and needs a name? I think Lance is the best answer.
^
I miss tank the turtle I hope he's alive and out there somewhere And I think seven is with him
Can't wait to see the bass and turtles join the gars in the new pond
You should name him Needle!
I was thinking the same thing but with S on the end lol
Ned the needle fish
Was about to say the same thing. Needle all day!
Haha I just said same thing

Love to see Phantom eating well! Grow up to be big and strong!
Just don't eat the little Long Nose gar.
Pinocchio, that suits his long snout. 😆 Your pond is stunning.
Great work. The pond looks healthy and amazing. Lenny would be my name choice for the new addition!
My boys and I love your channel and have followed for years, enjoying all of your adventures. They love the name "Harpoon" for your new gar. Also, we'd love to see you cast net sometime. It's the most peaceful to watch, and my boys' favorite!
Keep up the great work!
Wonderful pond!!! Glad to see things came together for you. Can't wait to see you swim with your 6' Gar friends!!!
that's a nice looking gar. the way you handled him, it would seem he has a very docile demeanour.
My kids saw Sawy. Since they think he looks like a saw. I vote for Needle though. Thanks for posting! Me and my kids love to see the updates on the new pond. The kids love the new alligator gar and the new pond.

Love your frequent uploads man
Glad to see the consistency in posting. Hope it’s easier now that you have a yard pond!
I love the long-nose! Thanks for the update and hopefully the turtles go in soon 😄
The fact you can actually see ghost swimming around the pond is amazing
Glad to see you back
Spotted garr have one of the best color patterns. Very interesting species.
Can’t wait for you to swim with them. That underwater footage is gonna so cool.

Great video. So glad you're back and loving the short, to the point, content.
Keep it going!
That longnose gar is so cool.
Such a great addition! Was nervous at first when the alligator Gar took a close look 😅😅 turtles turtles turtles! We want new turtles!
I just keep commenting every video, hoping your views pick up again! Have great weekend! Thanks for the video series!
Fist time seeing your channel, thats freaking awesome. It's mostly long nose Gar here in north Arkansas. Beautiful fish.
Great video you sound happy again
Awesome new addition to the family. I think a great name for the long nose would be Gyarados. He has the yellow underbelly with spots just like Gyarados.
phantom is like *yoooo, I like this pond!* but the rest are shy.
Kyle that is one majestic Fish there your videos are the best! I’ve watched your videos since 2020!
I think cool names would be Nile or Ribbon. Love that you're uploading again!
I would call that dude Arrow.
Lovely pond!
Fish Videos are Amazing They Made my Day😊

I loved the sped up video of them exploring the pond 😭💙
That pond is beautiful!
My favorite fish TH-camr
That gar looks like a garry.
Such a cool pond 👍
The pond looks amazing!
My suggestion would be "Gungnir" as a name, since it looks like a spear
Phantom had the munchies! And the long-nosed gar should be named Terry--after the actress Teri Garr.
i think Spear could be a nice name!
Narwhal or snoot. Snoot! What a cute name! 😂

Yes your back in my fed the algorithm is picking you up
You should use a polarizing filter to reduce glare and let us see the fish better.
I do use a polarizer. The glare is pretty bad and I’m trying to figure out what time of day is best for filming
Are you going to put something at the bottom of the pond? So smaller fishies and the sort can hide/hang out there? I mean, the Navy hooks up the ocean wildlife with old carriers and boats, maybe you can do the same but on a smaller scale!
I’m planning on putting a giant driftwood log in the middle of the pond
@@TheFishWhisperer1 Excellent!
A possible name for the Long Nosed Gar:
Echidna.
00:59 haha the engine in the background made it sound like the gar was revving up to surface
I'm worried about the tadpoles with those gar. Hope to see them in an upcoming video.
Take it out now!! before too late, my 3 feet gar ate my FREAKING 2 FEET TIGER CATFISH!! and you know how big the tiger's head is?? it can't swallow the whole fish so the tail still hanging out, I had the same thought like you too before that day.
Yeah I’m concerned they’ll get comfortable and try to eat the new guy. Would definitely remove
My grandma accidentally drank 5 quarts of paint thinner
Really cool!
I'd call him Pliers, like needle-nose pliers
Name cannot be anything else than Schnauzer 😂
You should add a bunch of blue gill and cichlids
SPIKE!💜
Call him Pinhead.
Needle 🪡 or Pinocchio
Pinocchio is an outstanding name!
Awesome seeing a new species! As for my name suggestion, I’m gonna go with Hound since his snout makes him look like a Houndfish
Sabre cause he reminds me of a Fencing Spear
Keeping the Texas river theme. Trinity. He was 1 of 3 long nose gars and the trinity has 3 branches. The East Fork, the Elm Fork and the West Fork.
I was gonna suggest that too but I like the trio of brown alligators being the rivers, plus phantom already broke that tradition so maybe something new will be better
Trinity was the name of his other gar that died, so no.
It's a lil smaller so maybe name it after a TX creek?
Pinocchio for a name.
Pinocchio 😊
First time seeing this channel and its realy good
Nice video ❤
I really do miss the turtles and bass though :(
They will be back soon
@@TheFishWhisperer1 Im excited then. The turtle were always goofy to watch.
What a beautiful fish!
Also you should name him "Pike" for the funny.
Name that little noodle man Linguini!!!💯💯💯💯
I've seen the gar in the Ohio River surface feeding on floating vegetation like grass and tree leaves after storms when the cellulosic material was very plentiful on top of the slow current in five feet of water. Call the long nose Tweezers.
Nettle would be a cute name ❤
how about Cyrano as in De Bergerac?
Name him Chick-o-Stick.
My fav little league go to!!
You should put green sunfish in the pond because of all the rocks and the gar would have a good food source
Needle the long-nose gar!
You had one back in 2020 and never gave us an update on him, did he die?
Is it viable to put live prey species in like shad
Long nose…..Snout seems appropriate😄
We call those needle nose gar so call him Needle!
Arrow, Nice fish
Id call the long nose Pliers 😂
The Brave Captain Usopp!
Great video, I'm getting new fish for 500
Forrest!
"Run,Forrest,Run!"
Soon as I saw how small that new long nose gar. I said: ya they going to eat it
If you ever get another gar name it Texas!! For long nose I like Spear! Or Javelin like someone else said!
Gorgeous
An anagram for longnose gar is anglers goon. Interesting, but not a good name. Can't wait for the turtles!
Awesome video!! Are shortnose gar not in Texas?
Since he came from Uncle Ben’s, maybe give him a crazy name, like “Gartholomew” or something like that
I love this variation of Bartholomew
My 7yr old daughter likes the name Kelp for the new fish! 💚💚
2:45 hahaha. Laziest gar I’ve ever seen
Comet would be good name for the new Gar.
Pokey, you should call him Pokey
Keeping with Texas river names, the longest river in Texas is the Rio Grande... It would be a perfect name for the "long" nose gar.
I think razor would be a neat name!
Name idea: Stiletto🔥🔥🔥
