That's what Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep products are designed as to keep labor times and prices high.. they sell you the vehicle then screw you when it breaks
So I literally just did this in my shop today and the easiest way I found to replace this starter was to remove the fuse box assembly behind the battery and I was able to get a long quarter inch extension with a swivel 14mm socket to loosen the top bolt. Took me about 40 min due to the fact I also took off the cowl and most of the intake bolts in the beginning. I can't wait to get another jeep Cherokee starter job
Thank you for producing and posting this excellent video. We just completed the starter replacement on a 2014 Cherokee. Found it's much easier to do it all from the bottom. The bolt on the driver side is tricky, but you can loosen it with a 15mm wrench. We removed the exhaust pipe, but left the CV axle in place. Hope this helps someone.
Thank you for such detailed instructions, I just replaced the starter on my 2014 4x4 jeep and your instructions are excellent. Replacing it on a 4x2 is much easier, the 4x4 the transfer case is on the way so removing the intake manifold *is* the only way.
Forget that. Fully insure said Jeep Cherokee and have towed to nearest cliff. Have tow truck driver unload said Cherokee facing cliff. Turn Cherokee keys to acc and shift into neutral. Disengage parking brake and push Cherokee over cliff. File insurance claim. Have a friend follow you for ride home.
You really don’t have to do all that stuff, I work in a fca dealership, that deals with dodge, ram Chrysler and jeeps, you can take it off from the bottom, just take out the top two bolts from up top. Disconnect the connector and nut, take out the Lower mount bolt to be able to pry it out for more space
This video makes me lol, I replaced my starter myself and didn’t have to do anything other than disconnect the battery and remove the splash plate under my 2019 jeep Cherokee. The top bolt can be reached from the top of the engine, use a light and elbow attachment to make it easier. Other bolts are underneath.
I just did this work at a shop that I work and all I did was remove the battery completely, remove the two bolts that hold the starter from up top (16mm), then remove one bolt that holds the starter from the bottom (14mm). Once a starter is loose U-Pull-It away about an inch so you could remove the power cable and then remove the connector. Then you play with the starter in different angles until you sneak it between the axle and the intake manifold. Reverse procedure for installing
This is why they’re charging so much at the dealerships. All this unnecessary stuff to replace a starter is ridiculous. I’ll change my own starter before I’m constantly messed over by the dealerships…..🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
lmao...wtf.. ???. remove back seat, relive fuel pressure, put that car up on jack stands, remove all 4 tires along with everything else you see, pop the hood remove battery, air intake, valve cover to reveal the spark plugs... Now that's all done..... lmao YOU CAN JUST Have car on Ramps or Jack stands Crawl under car, remove plastic splash guard 6 -10 10mm bolts, locate starter in front of engine are behind exhaust pipe disconnect Signal wire (black clip) undo the one power wire 12mm, unloosen the 2 mounting bolts and remove starter.. and repeat install
Yup, they are trying to charge me $1200 to replace the starter at the dealership 😂 Having it towed to my brother who’s a mechanic and is ready to call them up screaming. Unbelievable 😂
Wow, to drain the fuel pressure from the fuel rail, just pull the fuel pump relay and give it a crank. That should be a lot easier than removing the rear seat. This is crazy just to get to a starter
I wish that this video was incorrect. I have the 4x4 and Jeep put the transfer case directly below the starter. There is no way to even touch the starter from any direction. So you can't even wiggle the wires on the starter without doing all this
1.Remove your battery cables. 2. Remove the splash guard. 3. Remove your starter. 4. Don't do all that unnecessary crap on this video. 5. Thank me later.
This video sucks,is another easy way to remove and replace the starter in this vehicle, don't get it why have to remove the back seat bench and unplug the fuel line s....wtf.
Ok,are you stripping the vehicle to sell parts😂or are you replacing the starter? Their's noway Chryslers that big of a A***h*** to design a motor that you would have to do that much crap to get to a starter😢.
Surely there is an easier way to replace s starter! This is crazy!

I'm wondering if it's the same processes on the 4x4 model??
Where are u
Was that a 4x4?

How replace the starter motor on the Jeep Cherokee 2014-2019:
Replace the Jeep
Thank you for such detailed instructions, I just replaced the starter on my 2014 4x4 jeep and your instructions are excellent. Replacing it on a 4x2 is much easier, the 4x4 the transfer case is on the way so removing the intake manifold *is* the only way.
This should be a lesson to anyone thinking of buying a jeep. DONT.
But everyone has ducks on their dash
Nice video. I just learnt how to dismantle a jeep lol. Nice video bro. Keep it up
"After removing the fuel pump wiring, START THE VEHICLE..." Um.... I CAN'T! THATS WHY I NEED TO REPLACE THE STARTER!
🤣🤣🤣 Right?!?! I just had my Jeep towed in and I’m almost certain it’s the starter but FFS no way all is necessary.
The dude is a 🤡🤡😂😂
@@Networkputz why did he take the wipers off😂😂
I was thinking that as well.

Yes you do. Or at least you should if you know anything about the electrical system.
How do u apply the parking brake after you disconnect the battery?
All this for a starter??
Jesus Christ 🤦🏾♂️
I’ve done this job several times and there is no way in hell you’re removing the rear seats for a starter.
Step 1: disassemble the entire friggin car
You don’t have to remove all this stuff to get the starter off
What would you recommend on how to get to that top bolt? I don't really want to take all that off myself.
@@alexlarocque1521 my mechanic took the battery out and then use a extension adjustable connector I couldn’t believe how quick he got it done
@@antoinettemadlock3065 is that really all he did?
@@dark_wraith4784 yes took less than a hour

Is this for the 4wd
Wish this showed the AWD process.....
How do you replace a starter on a 3.2l?
THANKS!!! THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO
it´s better to shoot an RPG Rocket to the engine. and faster.
Dude y'all rock!!!!!
2015 Jeep Cherokee limited starter replacement at dealer.
They charged me $1500
By the way, the vehicle only has 37000 miles but out of warranty.
diseño ridiculamente trabajoso
para un motor 4 cylindros
Never ever again will I purchase a Jeep fiat brand product this is an absolute joke to dismantle a whole car to replace a starter!
I wish that this video was incorrect. I have the 4x4 and Jeep put the transfer case directly below the starter. There is no way to even touch the starter from any direction. So you can't even wiggle the wires on the starter without doing all this
AWD is a bit more involved.
So, this is progress.
1.Remove your battery cables.
2. Remove the splash guard.
3. Remove your starter.
4. Don't do all that unnecessary crap on this video.
5. Thank me later.
Is the starter accesible from underneath the truck?
Why is the rear seat or fuel pump involved lol

Are you taking the car apart or are you replacing a starter? "remove the windshield wipers"... LMAO How about get a better mechanic?
I thought I clicked on the wrong link, this is ridiculous for a starter
Bro your telling me to take the car apart 😒
yeah... I'm just gonna buy some fireworks and put them in the gas tank... seems alot easier
So take apart the whole car
You doing way to much bro.
Fiat is making everything complicated.
eurotrash

All this nonsense to change a starter motor? This is absolutely absurd!!!!
Absolutely ridiculous!!
Wtf?
Jeep engineers were probably told off by Mechanics somewhere so they decided to do this 🙄🤬
