This was great, I've been looking for "successful horse training and care" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Menailey Vonaliyah Formula - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my co-worker got great success with it.
@@najibcasa2745 The only method I use in working with a horse is the way horses interact with each other. Establishing yourself as a fair and trusted leader. Understanding the horse's way of communicating. And becoming an effective communicator with the horse. The horse will 'tell' you if you are doing things right or wrong.

andrea michelle ikr. I own a pretty 5 year old mare and we first started training her today and when we walked her with a lead rope while swinging the rope she kept bucking and jumping
We only see right now. Every horse has a history that we don’t know by just watching a video.
If done properly, the first ride should go like this, even for a difficult horse.
I’ll bet money that horse has been saddled and saddled and had the stirrups flapped and desensitized in general. It can make all the difference. All that prep makes riding even some of the most difficult horses look easy and well, boring. That’s what you want though!

Preparation is key, he was likely a difficult start with a good first ride, it's not as rare as most trainers would like you to believe, after all if everyone did it at home they'd be out of a job.

He mentioned the the little horse getting its tongue over the bit but didn't say how he would help the horse change it so I'll share what I learned from my mentor. I take a snaffle bit and make a head stall out of baler twine. Put it on the horse like it was going for a ride. Then give it some hay and let it eat. It will learn to keep the bit in its mouth where it be, over the tongue. Do not leave the horse unsupervised. It can choke. I have a thoroughbred that was pretty troubled when I got her. After a half hour of this, one problem was gone. I'd say that was a nice first ride even on a not difficult horse. Good job.

My uncle , Mike Evans in Childress, Texas is considered one of the best trainers in that area. If you are in the west Texas panhandle just ask around , you might have attended one of his seminars.
My horse can't have a bit, because we rescued her from a lady that never floated her teeth or never go her feet done so she doesn't let us touch her mouth but the riding lesson was great. Even I fell off of my horse when I trained her c,:

Bits and spurs are abusive tools used to cause pain to make the horse listen wouldn't dare let him near my horses with those spurs or that horrible bit I only use natural horsemanship rope halters and a saddle no pain more gain

He did this correctly. The first ride should be uneventful if done properly. As for bits and spurs being abusive...then why are you even watching this? Western riding traditions uses bits and spurs. Yes they have potential for abuse, but in the proper hands they are tools of precision. Would you rather cut a tomato with a butter knife or a newly sharpened chefs knife? It’s all in the application.
@@bobbibecker25 bits and spurs are tools period. It is up to the rider whether or not they use them correctly or in an abusive way.
@@bobbibecker25 honestly even as someone who is anti bit that bit could've been a lot worse. Is it unnecessary? Absolutely. Is it leagues better than most people use when starting a horse western? YES. I've seen first hand trainers use big shanks and curbs and toms thumb bits on three year olds for their first ride and it kills my soul a little every time. This guy could've done a lot worse, and while his hands are on the hard side, he's better than most and has actually given the horse a fair shake. Also, on the topic of spurs, I think it depends on the spurs. Obviously the sharp ones are most commonly the abused type, but there are rounded and bumper spurs as well. Can those be abused? Absolutely, but they give the horse a better chance than the sharp ones. It's hard to see what kind of spurs he's using here, and really for a first ride with a horse with so much go already they don't seem necessary. I think there are bigger fish to fry in terms of bit and spur abuse-- look at barrel racing for instance. Some guy breaking a horse on his homestead isn't going to listen to anyone on the topic of bits, especially if he's being called an abuser when the guy's obviously just trying to train a young horse to do basic ranch work. Is he misguided in thinking bits are the only way to control his horse? Yeah, but we don't see behind the scenes, we don't know if he uses a bit all the time or if he has bosals. The horse was started decently and treated with respect despite the bit and hard hands, and the guy definitely cared about preparing him. There are many cases of abuse to work on that aren't just a dude riding a horse in a bit, and many that are far more pressing and detrimental to the animals involved.

But let's talk production... Mic the talent! We didn't come to just hear the guy with the camera say "uh-huh" and barely hear the rider. Or see the guy with the camera stick his hand in front of the lens. Tripods are your friend! Doesn't have to be "high tech", just pan loosely and have stable legs. Wind noise? Use a "dead cat" (lots of long, artificial fuzz) mic cover or diffuser. It won't fix everything, but it sure helps to cut down the "rumble".

You said bit was under the tongue ? I always rode with mine over the tongue and everyone I know always bitted up their horses that way.
I think he said when he was bridling him he got is tongue over the bit and you *don't* want the tongue over the bit. Hard to hear with background noise.
+Magical Thyme Farm most people miss that... but that is correct. The trainer was just joking about how Tell kept wanting to put his tongue over the bit.
sarah joseph Me too, it cuts into there tongue and it will be about 600 near me to treat it.
He clearly said "you want the bit to be under the tongue" and even put emphasis on the word under. I think he just got his words mixed up; I hope so anyway...

I have a horse that will be in a parade next week. This horse is scared of horse-drawn wagons ( which there will be plenty off) and I don't know what to do. We don't have access to any wagons or the money to pay someone to drive one. Does anyone have any ideas of how to desensitize her to them without having one on hand. Any suggestions are appreciated.

My cousin never took care of her horse and moved away. I’ve been the only one feeding her bec if I hadn’t than she would have starved. I got her fat again and she’s been doing really great. She just hasn’t rode in a long time and I don’t know how to teach her to ride again......please if anyone has any advice that could help me than that would be awesome😂
It’s really good you are looking after the horse. Best try to get someone who knows horses to help you. Someone who is proven in horsemanship.
The horse just stands still when you get on. How do you get then to stay still? Mine always moves when I go to get on him.
How are your horses ground manners?
A good thing to practice is when the horse moves, step away, and make HIM move. Ask him to work every time he moves away. You're using negative reinforcement to tell him that is NOT the correct answer and eventually he will understand that standing still is an easier option than lunging. This is something I've done for all of my horses and it works fairly well. It's not a fast method, and it may take a week or so for slower horses to have it click, but once they realize what you're asking and that the right answer is to remain still, you shouldn't have an issue.
I am in need of a horse trainer that is a bronco rider
I am trying to figure out why he is wearing chaps in the ring. Is there runaway brush in his area that might jump in the ring and attack?

if this was his first ride i dont think spurs are needed and if this is his first ride to me things seem rushed be patient take your time to have a good foundation

Seems to me this ride went well. I have a feeling it wasn’t rushed. There’s lots of groundwork and desensitization that went on before this video.

At least two years. You shouldn’t do it under 2 years because the horses bones need to be fully developed because if not they can damage something
If its a thoroughbred u can Probs start at 3 any other horse u should start at 4 otherwise u can cause serious damage to the horses back
For me no sooner then 3 years old. And just ground work no jumping till 5-7 years old. 2 would be the earliest but I think that is still to young. Everybody has a different opinion. We get fussed that we are gonna start riding at 3 and that we should wait longer. And we had someone complain that we weren't riding her at 18 months

Generally a gelding is the best pick for a first horse. They tend to be more laid-back and easy going in my experience.

You said as you wait on the horse and he starts to move you would get off. Wouldn’t that teach the horse bad habits? Why not release the pressure when he gives in to your cue or relaxes. By getting off when the horse walks off your teaching the horse to get his way. Same concept when you fall off there is a reason cowboys get back on😂

@@henryhenry903 my mentor's mentor was invited to a branding. The horse he chose to ride was not started. In a half hour he had it saddled halter broke and ready to ride. In another few minutes he was roping calves. People like that have a good feel about them and see when the horse is ready to move on to the next thing. I'm afraid thing go a lot slower for me but that what I aspire to be, that kind of horseman.

I would never use a bit of any kind on a horse.
Why so? Horses bodies are build to endure that. Its only the matter of trust between him and the owner.

Horse's skin is actually significantly thinner than human skin with many more nerve endings, which means they feel more pain at a higher intensity per square inch than humans can. Think about when the dentist puts that piece of plastic in your mouth for an xray. Uncomfortable right? Now imagine someone using that connected to reins to lead you around. It's not the most pleasant thing in the world to imagine and it certainly isn't pleasant for the horse. You can actually see in the video the horse opening his mouth when the bit pulls atthe corners of his lips. Thats an uncomfortable feeling and he's opening his mouth to try to release pressure.

Do that until you get a consistent set of correct responses to the question you’re asking.
I am pretty sure you will find that the horse does not view you as the trusted fair leader. That is the very first thing you establish. Lots of appropriate ground work before you ever think of getting on the horse. It may take weeks or months.

Why are you attempting a first ride when the horse has not been thoroughly prepared? Take the time it take to have the process go smoothly.

I started riding when I was 4. ( I am way older now lol ) and I still don’t get why people think for the first ride shove a bit in its month? Ps. I’m sorry but 5 years isn’t a lot. After I rode for five years I still thought bits were good it ok. But now I know how horrible they really are.

Linda Bowman pretty much...but a horse can tell inruitevely..a man from a boy....lol.. command but with empathy. And a little blue seal mollassas doesnt hurt...lol...firm but compassion and almost horse will come around...I dont even face strap or bit them...I have the rains set off the saddle...but control them their mane....
Linda Bowman I agree, it is not advisable to wear spurs on a green horse. But he probably rides all day on many different horses. That being the case you learn how to control your feet so you don’t have to put them on and take them off repeatedly...it’s a pain!

Why would you ride him for the first time in a bit. It would be logical to start in the same rope halter you've had him in for the groundwork. And once he's soft in that eventually advance to a bit.

Ride without a bit, it's just there to cause unnecessary pain.
Bits only hurt a horse if u yank and pull. If u do it slightly, the horse will barely feel it. Always the rider.
