  • I'm so excited to be sharing with you a Colour Analysis I had with the lovely Anna Mewes recently.
    If you've ever considered having your 'colours done' I highly recommend you (a) watch this video then (b) book a consultation. I was a bit sceptical but am now a total convert - it's changed the way I look at my wardrobe and put my clothes together!
    Let me know in the comments which colour category you think you belong to and if, by the end of the video, you still think the same!
    You can find Anna here:

    Enjoy!

    Cannot believe I heard her say changing hair color could change your undertone. Cool or warm is internal not external unless you have neutral tone.

      Deborah Dotson I think she more meant that it would maybe change your season. So if you’re typically a winter and you dyed your hair a lighter ash brown, then you may move into summer. Still staying in your “temperature” (cool), but your contrast may disappear a bit, if that makes sense.

      I'm a soft spring with blond hair and look my best in light colors but but when I cooled my hair red I noticed I needed to wear the darker bold colors.

      @@katrinalewis6172 this is not true. Best color is based on your skin. If you change your hair your colors don't change, but you might not be as flattered in the colors that work for you because your hair will overtake it.

    i'm assuming from the colour palette that it is warm Autumn in which case black is a complete no no only winter can wear black successfully.

    I am exactly like you warm and soft...I learned a few new colors that will work for me and I own several the colors...great video...I need a soft swatch fan to take shopping with me!

    This was fascinating. I am warm dominant, its instantly obvious that I'd fit right into the warm group. Soft second category.

    Remember colour analysis was very popular in the 80´s after the book by Carole Jackson. I think I am a "soft autumn", my best colors are olive green, gold, dark brown and dusty rose. I look absolutely terrible in light pink, light grey, pretty much all pastel colors since they makes me look washed out so I tend to stay away from those..

      It's best to have a color analysis in person. Color consultants know what to look for. A book helps once you've had your colors done to understand your colors a bit better. But I wouldn't suggest "just a book". As we saw... she thought she would be a Winter... but clearly she has warm tones so she cannot possibly be a Winter. You can end up more easily confused.

      The woman getting her colors done looks very much like me. At least when my hair was completely natural. Now I'm transitioning at 52. I had a graying crown, but chickened out on continuing, so I re-colored. That was three weeks ago.

    I definitely think I'm warm. I always have olives and charcoals in my wardrobe but then I do wear a hell of a lot of black so maybe I should tone it down. I always get told I look fantastic in this bright royal blueish cardi when I wear it (when everything else is in the wash), but the brightness scares me so I avoid it and opt for navy. Very difficult! Can't wait to get my own colours done.

    I'm very restricted with my clothe colours ;-) Neurals just black, also don't like pastels, greens yellows, pinks or oranges so basicly I go from black or white to red and blues only on my jeans =D Yep very stubborn in my wardrobe ;-) xx

    • @AnnaMewes
      @AnnaMewes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The main thing is that you love and feel good in what you wear. Colour isn’t for everyone and a neutral palette is beautifully timeless. Xx

      Thanks +ANNAMEWES its just that my skin with light pastel colous looks grey and with beijes I look naked, my skin it's light neutral and I only use white when I'm sun tanned (hard achievement in the UK, I know, not always looking goldy like in my pic, had just arrived from holidays) So I prefer the eternal classics (black, greys, reds and white :-) You would have a hard time with me :-) Hahahaha xx

    Watching this after my personal colour analysis! So obsessed, lol. I'm a Soft Summer but need to be careful about the lightest and darkest shades of the palette because of my ash brown hair.

    Your undertone doesn’t change if you color your hair. It’s just the wrong hair color for your inborn skin tone.

    Amazing video - been meaning to watch it. All those colours lighten up your hair so much. I think I'm a clear.. but a while after dyeing my hair goes warmer so maybe I'd be in the warm category. So interesting!! Xx

    I figured out on my own that I'm a warm autumn (aka true autumn). Although I have dyed red hair and warm skin, so it was pretty easy to figure out.
    Warm autumns are recommended mostly warm, muted tones. The thing is, I dislike so many of the colors that are recommended for me and am drawn to so many of the colors that aren't ideal. Black is said to be one of the absolute worst, but I'm not giving it up, no matter what lol.

    i had my colours done in my thirties and i was a cool winter, jewel toned cool colours. now im older and i had my colours done again and i was a soft summer. Basically i noticed that my colours are virtually the same, but softer more dusty shades and my hair is now Ash blonde (real colour is silver so may go to that eventually) enjoyed the video, thanks!

    I’m obsessed with color and its impact! It was easy to see the colors and their effect on the model’s complexion here. Can I say that I think Anna’s makeup was too warm for her? I read her as cool, but the foundation and especially what she had on her cheeks read brown to me. I am neutral skewing warm (my own analysis!), but prefer cool lip and eye colors on me for some reason. Color is complex!

    • @AnnaMewes
      @AnnaMewes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Harsha P you’ll need to wear your blazer with the warmer colours in your palette to ‘warm things’ up. Corals, Apple green, salmon and yellows will all work beautifully with blue and are perfect combos for spring! Xx

    I haven't watched the video yet simply because I'm struggling with the woman doing the color analysis. I've seen enough color analysis videos and this woman firstly does not look like she is wearing her best colors (what she is wearing overwhelms her) and her talking about hair color being blond means absolutely light and dark hair absolutely deep is completely wrong, they can point to the most likely but definitely don't determine in absolute, the skin itself and it's undertone do. I'll try to watch some more and will edit if I do, but so far I rage quit and now I'm coming back because I needed to say something to cool down.
    Edit: made it to 11:06 slightly more mad. Did she even check to see whether your undertone was warm or cool or just guess based off your overtone? It just jumped right to it and isn't giving you the time to truly see if it fits you, just saying yup it does.
    Edit 2: the orange and yellow suit you best for sure, so yes warm undertone. But some of the colors she says looks good on you seem to overwhelm your skin. (Like the olive) of course it could be that camera not picking it up properly.

    Funny how Anna actually looks more like a winter rather than an autumn. To me she would look way better in cold/navy/fushia colors than with the khaki and red she is wearing

    Hi how do I go about getting a color analysis. Im in Minnesota. I have wanted this done for so long. I think I am a Autumn do I basically need just confirmation

    • @janetteehan8230
      @janetteehan8230 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Im from the states too. I would say ask a couple of good friends to help you because it is difficult to be objective. For example, Sally felt she was in the "Clear" category but she couldn't have been more wrong. There are so many videos on you tube about color analysis you and a couple of honest friends could figure it out.

      I found this video so interesting! I think I'm a cross between soft and cool - I'm one of those people who was fair and blonde when I was younger, but have got darker as I've got older, but I've still got fairish pink skin tones. I love the colour teal, but it doesn't suit me at all, so I'm quite jealous!

    This colour analysis didn't do your colouring justice. As I would expect, the tonal system rarely does, as it is way too simplified. Also, what's up with the colour consultant wearing the wrong blue? 🤭

  • @SueRosalie
    @SueRosalie ปีที่แล้ว

    the black did nothing for you - you have no reason to wear it and the charcoal was no better
