The real success of Heartland was and still is the Amy and Ty love story. The dating in season 17 especially Amy's relationship with Nathan is simply the writers attempt to keep the storyline interesting, and not boring. I believe if Ty comes back to the show Heartland will continue with Ty, Amy and Lindy together again. If he doesn't return the writers will conclude the series with Amy unable to accept another(not just because Ty can't be replaced} because of her continuing strong love and feelings for Ty. She will conclude that her peace and happiness is with her as a single mother raising Lindy in the manner Ty would have wanted. In my opinion, because we had 14 years of this remarkable love story, whereby the viewers got to intimately know Ty, it makes it nearly impossible to erase him from the viewers minds and on a larger scale future Heartland seasons.

Just watched a interview with Amber and Adam Cromarty titled Under the Saddle! Was a good interview! Adam asked Amber the question will Graham be back? Amber was quick to say no he will not and that it would be difficult to have him return in a realistic way! So now we know No Graham(Ty)! With yhat watch the true Heartland fans stop watching and will simply watch the enjoyable seasons 1-13 over and over! I do know the majority of true fans are disappointed in the direction they have taken this show based on comments and conversations with many in our community area. Its a real shame they have taken a once enjoyable Family Show and turned it into a soap opera the last 2 seasons! Amy trolling for a new man with the criteria must be a divorcee and preferably one 7 years older than she is , is ridiculous!! Come on Amber give your head a shake!! But as many have said since Graham left Heartland is done! Fan base away down and more to exit. Characters Jack & Lisa will retire! And absolutely no storyline ! Just saying from the beautiful disappointed foothills of Alberta 🇨🇦🤠🐎
I agree I am extremely disappointed the outcome of this show and the direction they went with this show. They were selfish to drag it out and ruin the show to it's bad death. It should have ended when Graham left when he gave them 2 years to plan a good ending for season 13 finale if they have done so end the love story legacy with two great leading actors together.
SHADOW, nothing ITS BEEN A freaking NIGHTMARE for the writers on Ty Character being gone. Season 14 as depressing as it was. Amber acting in 14 should have been ACADEMY AWARD. Seasons 15, and 16 combined IMO ONLY maybe 4 EPISODES were any good. Naming the Youth Center after Ty was the right move. But the rest of 15 and 16 again IMO only was a writers huge disappointment. TY is not coming back but they should have used Scott the vet more and brought back Luke to pay his respects. One of the original show producers from the beginning said Heartland Charactors cannot be treated like SOAP opera Charactors. Season 17 was better and I kind of like the new guy way better than the other 2 guys in 15 & 16. I think but IMO they need to bring Scott the vet into this story line so Nathan can learn what kind of Man , Husbund, and Father Ty was with Amy. Enough said.
