    Thanks for this series. I was introduced to fold forming in a class I took at an art center, and subsequent study. Your videos are very clear with great explanations with many interesting techniques. The vise mod is very helpful, almost have mine done. P.S. I have a 35 lb Cliff Carrol anvil that looks similar to the one you are using in the videos. Seems to work well for this application.

      Hello Franconia, Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate it. You will love the vise mod. It is the only way to go. Yes, I have a 35 lb. Cliff Carrol anvil. I have had it for about 40 years. It is a great anvil. Let me know how you are doing. If you have any questions and need to send pics, I have my email address in the "about" section of my channel. Have a good one. Greg Greenwood

    There really are some beautiful pieces among the pieces you made. The round one with the silver wire with balls on the end and the 3 boatfold one being my favorites. They have a beautiful flower feel to them. I would definifely wear them. Such a shame that hammering that much in an appartement building isn't really neighbour friendly. I like my Neighbours and visa versa so i prefer to keep it that way. But this video sure is inspiring. 👍

      @@greggreenwood4628 hey Greg... well, as you offered.... I guess it'll works equally well with silver as long as there's plenty of annealing?
      Having said that.. you get such awesome colours with copper.... mixing both might be spectacular......

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Rick, Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, you can use silver too. Definitely annealing is a must. Mixing metals and colors is always fun and gives jewelry pieces a special look. Go for it!!!! Thanks again for your comments. Greg Greenwood

    Hello Greg,
    I absolutely love watching your videos, I'm learning so much. You said your vise is handmade if I remember correctly, I have been looking at buying a vise to do some of the foldforming and I can't find anything large enough to make a cuff. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jade, I am glad you are enjoying and learning from my videos. Rewatch Part 1 of the Foldforming series. I have "modified" my vice with angle irons. I replaced the textured jaws with the angle irons. This way you can fit cuffs etc in the jaws. You can buy almost any kind of vice from a box store or hardware store. They can by cheaper brand if that fits your budget. Just make sure that you can remove the textured jaws. Please let me know how it goes. Greg Greenwood

    Hi Greg, love the tutorials. Would you be able to tell me what fi ish you put on the copper to keep it from tarnishing

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello keys61, I am glad that you are watching my tutorials. Thank you. Copper is difficult to keep a finish on it. I use clear lacquer and that works ok. Thank you for asking. I am here to help when I can. Greg Greenwood

    So beautiful- Can you please tell me what gauge is used for the silver leaves? And what gauge of copper For the final project? Thank you

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Renee, Thank you for your kind comment. The gauge for the silver is: 26gauge / .405mm. The copper is 26 gauge also, .405mm. Thanks for your question. Keep watching. Greg Greenwood

    Hello, I use Google Translate. I had a question. When I melt the silver, after casting and cooling, I saw dark spots on it. What is the cause? What is the solution? Thank you.

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Mohammad, The dark spots are copper oxide. They are caused by the silver mixing with the oxygen in the air producing copper oxide. They can be removed by "pickling" in a mild acid solution. See my video "What is Pickle? This will give you several options of acid. I hope this helps you. Thank you for watching. (Google translate is very helpful.) Greg Greenwood

    I have a question regarding putting a bezel around a glass eye so it will look like a natural lid top and bottom. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Jay, I will get back to you about the lids soon. I want to go into detail with you. Talk to you later . Greg Greenwood

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Jay, Sorry for the delay in responding. I would dome a circle of silver using a dapping block, forming around a steel ball, or forming over a stake. Then you could cut the dome in two pieces to make two eye lids. You could solder the lids to an other dome or back sheet. Decorate as you wish. Sounds like a fun project. Let me know how it goes. I hope this has helped you. Greg Greenwood

    Hi Greg, thanks for your fantastic and really helpful videos. I'd really like to know how the tool is called you're using at minute 11:22. I understand "steak", but that might not be correct :-) Would be glad to hear from you. Have fun

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Susanne, Thank you for your nice comments. The stake you are talking about is an "Eid Longhi Anticlastic Forming Stake" It is a multi purpose forming stake to make anticlastic curves (Metal curved in opposite ways in two directions). Make from a plastic type material "Delrin". Great stake for bending metal over in many different curves. Thanks for asking. Greg Greenwood

      @@greggreenwood4628 Thanks a lot for your answer,, Greg.
      And I have another question, I really would appreciate it if you could comment that too:
      How thick is the steel you are using for the construction on your vice ? Do you think that 3 mm would be strong enough for hammering the metal sheets ?
      Best wishes, Susanne

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Susanne, 3mm should be fine. Mine is a little thicker. Go for it!!! Greg Greenwood
