    LOL I love this idea and I'm going to do this in my shop. By the way.. This 68 yr old wants that "hand speed" saw you used to cut those things....I wish we could cut that fast with one. Sorry, couldn't help myself, you made me laugh and that's a good thing.

    Nice job. Looking to do one of these soon.
    I was quite indecisive myself last week about designing some standing shelves. I wanted to do it for as cheap as possible so I was basically using scraps of wood from a chicken coop that fell down in the garden, a few lengths of chipboard, and plywood.
    All the wood was old, battered, and different lengths and colours, and I didn't have a lot of wood to work with, so I decided to just tackle it and kind of make it up as I went and adjust as necessary.
    Yea, it's not pretty, but it works and it was free.
    I'm not great at designing things, I find it hard to visualise the final product, especially dimensions. But I guess that probably comes with experience; when you make enough stuff you get a better understanding of your capabilities and what a project is going to look like when it's done.

      Well done on the shelves. Good luck on the drill bit holders too. You can do this!

    Thanks for the video. I think I'm going to utilize parts of this build when I start laying out the garage for my new workspace. Did you consider putting a small cleat directly on your drill press table or where ever you use these sets frequently?

      +Eric Lee they are mounted right next to my drill press. Nice and convenient. It's within arms reach.

    • @homebuiltshop
      @homebuiltshop  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dylan Mckale the metric one's are CMT, and the standard one's are mostly a Porter Cable set with a few Wood River bits mixed in.

    would it not been easier to drill the holes before you made the cut?

    • @homebuiltshop
      @homebuiltshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The holes are supposed to be at 90 degrees to the slanted edge. If you drill them before, you'd be drilling into the wood at an angle. If you made the holes straight up and down, it would definitely be easier.

  • @billmorash3322
    @billmorash3322 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wouldn't it have been easier to drill the holes for the tool bits before cutting the odd angle?
    I'm not criticizing, I want to know before I make one.

    • @homebuiltshop
      @homebuiltshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wanted the bits to be at 90 degrees to the angle. If you want the bits to be straight up and down, it would definitely be easier. 👍

    • @billmorash3322
      @billmorash3322 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh.
      I got it now. I completely misunderstood. It makes sense now. Thanks.
      I plan on making some racks for the inside of a wall cabinet so I'll have to figure out if an angle would save more room than 90 degrees. Vertical space versus horizontal space.

    • @homebuiltshop
      @homebuiltshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely, if you have the interior space, some sort of angle will save a little. You'll be able to have them overlap a bit when you mount them.

    • @billmorash3322
      @billmorash3322 5 ปีที่แล้ว
