You make such an important point about tying the rhythm of the lead with what's going on underneath. That advice right there is priceless. I also like how you highlight going from minor pentatonic to major pentatonic and back - a player can double their vocabulary just by alternating among that three fret range. Another awesome lesson Rusty!
.... And thank you for inspiring me to dust off the ax. My fingers on the other hand don't thank you lol. You put them to work! Keep up the great work - your lessons are number one on here!
Hey Rusty! I've had a ton of fun playing along with this video and plugging in riffs from your other lessons. Great confidence builder. Thank you for all you do!
I like your focus on breaking players out of intermediate-level stagnancy; you open up the fretboard. And you make these lessons practical via cool, tuneful examples. Thanks and all best for 2025!
@rustysguitar1 Thanks, Rusty, for your replies and greetings. I've started my new year's resolution to understand the fretboard. Subscribed and looking forward! Best wishes to your viewers too.
Thanks Rusty, that was such a great lesson. I really like the way you get right down to the essence of what we need to know. That SRV esque shuffle and solo was great. Thanks mate.
Great lesson. If I could just add, without stepping on your toes, try counting it 1&a 2&a 3&a 4&a, where the shuffle is on the beat and A (or "uh") of the beat. 1 a 2 a, etc... The middle note, or & of the triplet, can also be played to fill some areas in a little more.
Great tip Rusty. Solos are great but without the rhythm to tie it to, it doesn't sound right. This is going to help me so much. Thank you sir. Hope all is well with you and yours. : - )
There’s a lot of good guitar teacher out there, but I must say, Rusty you’re the greatest! I have enjoyed listening to you and learning from you. Thanks for sharing your passion with us! Keep up the great work!
Sorry to say that I haven’t watched your channel before. I have watched a total of two videos and you have managed to resolved a topic that I have spent an unbelievable amount of time on “ Major And Minor”. It seems that everyone has a different perspective on teaching it and so far I have found it very confusing. I have just been doing it the way I believe was right and made sense to me. You have shown me in this video that I am doing it the same as you. Thank you so much. This made my day. Couldn’t I also change from Minor To Major by starting on the Minor root note, on the E string and begin playing Box 2 of the Major Pentatonic? New Sub.😊
I’m really glad you like the videos! I have another major minor pentatonic lesson coming out tomorrow. See you soon.👍 Thanks for subscribing to my channel.🤛
Thanks brother, after years playing (clubs-shows) I/we can still pick up some tools and riffs. You're helping my sit down and learn @ practice time. PS: gosh I love my/your Fenders they just sound sweet. Thanks brother, you're appreciated.
Without thinking, that came naturally for me first couple year of playing, 30 years later now it’s all about arrangement of all the different techniques and skills I’ve learned into cohesive sounding songs
@@rustysguitar1 Hey bud are you the same Rusty as Rusty Cooley? Anyway, I will take up your recommendation and purchase Ted Greens book on Chord Chemistry. Thanks my man and Rock or Blues on.
I keep trying and that's part of the fun , though its frustrating when I loose you at some point or you lose me I don't know, guess it's my slow working brain but keep up the good work, cheers from uk
Love watching your videos Rusty even though I’ve only been playing for a few months . What should I have under my fingers before I can actually start to grasp and make use of your teachings. Many thanks.God bless
I’m glad you like the videos Steve! As a beginner you should be starting to memorize the fretboard. Focusing on the root notes of the chords and scales! This will help you to quickly understand many TH-cam lessons. Also, you should be learning how to connect the chords and scales together. And start to learn the habits of your favorite guitar players. I’m glad we’re going through the Guitar journey together. Thanks, Steve.👍
You are an awesome teacher and so talented you make it look so easy! Thanks for your teaching sir.
Thanks so much bud!!! You’re welcome and I appreciate your support 👍
Best damn guitar teacher on TH-cam. Hands down. Thank you for your instruction sir!!!!!
