      How does it compare to a cone crusher?

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jdeluisa I don't have a whole lot of experience with cones. I know they are a popular secondary crusher to take a 4-6" rock and take it down to about 3/4" minus (sizes varies depending on type of cone). Cones are really heavy, take a lot of power, and they are REALLY expensive. Jaws are great because they are simple machines to work on and operate, low power requirement, good to great reduction size, they have been around for a long time, and they are fairly inexpensive to purchase. For the small to medium scale processor I would recommend a jaw and screen deck over a cone for sure.

    • @jdeluisa
      @jdeluisa 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      This might sound like a stupid question, but how is the screen deck utilized and what does it do?

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jdeluisa No stupid questions. A screen deck allows the operator to size the discharge from the crusher into various fractions. Some operators sell crushed stone by different size fractions with and without fines. Some operators need all the crushed to pass a certain size to meet the spec of their project. Some operators don't care about the size, they just want it crushed. A screen deck can be used with any crusher. I mentioned a screen deck earlier because a jaw crusher of this size (or bigger) may not be able to achieve the final desired size in one pass, where an appropriate sized cone may be able to get down to a uniform 3/4" minus product. The screen deck with a jaw would allow the operator to scalp off the larger size and re-run it through the jaw crusher to insure it passes the desired discharge size. This would be cheaper, easier, and less maintenance than getting a secondary crusher such as a cone or a set of rolls. Flow sheets for gravel and mining operations are highly varied depending on when the needs of the company are. They can be highly complex or fairly simple and straight forward, I tend to lean toward the simple and straight forward whenever possible. Thanks again.
