- Documentary appeared on the Irish channel TG4 in 2007
Synopsis: On the twentieth day of October, 1960, twenty four people left Inishshark island off the Galway coast in a flotilla of boats bound for the Conamara mainland.
My family also came from there. I'm so proud. Thank you, it brings tears to my eyes to watch this...
this is a magnificent and compelling insight into a lost irish history.
forgot that I had added this to my favourites a few years ago....glad I did as I just enjoyed watching it again. Fantastic documentary
My family are in this film, something stirs in me everytime i watch this
my grandmother was from there her mother was a Lacey.
My mother’s family are related to George Lacey’s family including his siblings whose brother John-Patrick is my mother’s father. We visit the island every two years and it’s fascinating to learn about their pasts.
Excellent Portrayal of a Bygone Era in Western Ireland,
These Great People were let down by a succession of Irish Governments,
Thanks for putting these up here, great little films
Beautiful. Thank you.
I remeber accompanying my father as teenager as he went round the coast of Clare & Connemara buying lobster. Still a v vivid memory. I would record the weights on a individulal tockets for the fishermen. I remember being in Doolin on a v sunny day & the men of Aran coming in . They were exported to France & Holland. We called it the Continent that time. Not Europe . He died in 1970.
So I find this v interesting but also nostalgic.
Wonderful speakers - both as Gaeilge is as Bhearla.
"The country is poorer as a result" - what poignant words.
