A few days ago I posted here because my sharpener wasn’t working and I’d tried everything to mend it. Turns out I was wrong. There WAS a broken off tip from a particularly soft pencil jammed deep inside the metal holder piece. I got a length of wire to release it and my sharpener is now working perfectly again. I highly recommend these sharpeners. I’ve tried many and this is the best sharpener I ever owned. Thankyou Derwent!

Then I took it apart. Then spotted the led blocking it. It's so hard to see it because it's in a shadow. So a HUGE THANK YOU 🙂🙂👍 I then spotted the bit of led jambing it.

Thanks so much i just literally opened this sharpener and when i tried to sharp it it was soo hard suddenly there was a broken tip it was so hard to get it out but when this video help me it really came off thank you so much!!
I couldn't pull the grinder out as per your video, but I took it apart by undoing the screws, emptying the core and putting it back together (nothing to lose) and it's working properly now. Thank you!

I thought mine was a waste of money. After 20 plus pencil it just won't budge. But then this video solved the problem and now I'm enjoying to sharpen my pencil again without worries.
Did you loosen the handle with a wrench prior to filming this video, because I'm pretty strong and I can't get the crank handle off effortlessly like you did. It's like mine is soldered in there. I suppose Ill tty a wrench, I just dont want to break it because its only plastic.
I just got a micro flathead screwdriver, tirn the sharpener upside and twisted the screwdriver grinding the lead into pieces. It worked fine after that
Hi. My Helix desk sharpener is not working properly. I've had it 2 years and released lots of broken leads from the grinder but now there seems to be a bit of metal (a screw) sliding around preventing the sharpener doing the full length of the lead? Has a screw come loose? What to do?
EDIT: I WAS WRONG. FIXED IT EASILY. THANK YOU DERWENT! I’ve had mine a while but use it occasionally. It seems to have stopped working. I followed these instructions here, but there was no broken pencil tip inside to remove. When I put it back together, it’s still not working. The metal part at the top of the part you pull out when inserting the pencil is wobbling and nothing happens when I try to sharpen the inserted pencil. As I bought it a while ago, I can’t take it back to where I bought it, mainly because it was working fine so I threw away the box and the receipt and can’t remember from where I purchased it. Any suggestions? Should I dismantle it completely (removing the screws etc)?
@@acetvgamingyt4166 as was shown in the video, but the broken off piece of pencil was jammed hard at the narrow end. I got a bit of wire that could fit and pushed the broken bit back the way it came. I couldn’t see it but guessed it was there.

Hi @ M. MATEEN gaming, I bought this exact same one in Australia 2021 but I’m unable to open it as shown. And it doesn’t even look like it will open. Have you opened yours? I’m assuming it a current purchase as well.
@@Mzsty2000 I did it. My gosh, I had to put a cloth over it and turn it with a wrench. Even then I had to use a lot of strength. I’m happy now lol. Have a good night or day. 🇦🇺
Literally got a brand new one today. Worked wonderfully for my dozen pastel pencils that afternoon. Tried some later and on the fifth it stopped working completely and the crank handle went all loose. Waste of money.
derwentpencils it's still not working. I forgot that it was not a Derwent product. It was actually made by KW-Trio and I sent them a message regarding this matter but they haven't replied yet.
