Such an underappreciated wonderful treasure of a videogame! It's like Tetris, Bust-a-move/Puzzle Bobble and Columns got mixed in a blender, and the music reminds me of Disneyland's Main Street Electrical Parade. Oh how I wish this gem would someday pop up on the Playstation Store as a PS1 Import, or maybe port it to the Nintendo Switch! This game is too great to be forgotten, everyone I've introduced it to has absolutely just loved it, and it deserves another chance.
From the makers of the Raiden series, Mezase! Senkyu Ou is the PS1 version of Seibu Kaihatsu's arcade puzzler Senkyu (known as Battle Balls outside Japan). Colorful, addictive and charming game all around!
This must be the version that has the sound completely dumped for PS1, the current MAME build does not have the yamaha soundboard that produced some FM sounds. I actually played NA title of Senkyo called Battle Balls in the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, and I remember hearing some FM with it as well as others.

Ha! Small world! That’s exactly where I played this game for the first time, too.
During my japan tour, I cam across the Senkyu game PCB several times. Was a blast to play them again.@@foxlordx
I get the tengu, tanuki and the eastern dragon, but who's the small mountain with a perpetually snowing umbrella?
Maybe my fuji
@@lucaslevinsky8802 somehow Mount Fuji getting off its arse to participate in a puzzle tournament doesn’t surprise me in the slightest
